agree with lifford gael and m collins....these guys wont set Croke Park alight...outsider was needed
wont book juries croke park for next sept Just yet. possible Mulgrew will bring the team on a bit, but not just yet..
I would love to be proved wrong.....but !!!
We doing it to quickly sack man last month appoint new one within 8 weeks....and the county never went looking for a manager just ask people to apply no head hunting??? surely there must be someone proven intercounter manager willing to look at donegal...or do they as I suspect believe the talent is not in Donegal to capture Ulster or Sam currently.
Whoever gets the job will need time to trawl the county for new blood...but be given a year to start building a squad forget the NFL as a competition that needs winning/1 concentrate on the Championship

Well 2 disagree wi most of the posts here I think that we're all very quick 2 critisise the 6 hopefuls well b4 they even get a chance. Not very fair that is it yet complain that McIver was hard done by and b4 ye say anything I think that McIver was treated very poorly.... But I also think it was time for a change.... Now that it's done we must move on and give whoever takes the job full support and let them do the Job their way and make judgement on our progress after 3 years.... My Opinion on who should the next Manager of Donegal.... McGuinness - Loads of experience as a player and worked with all the top coaches in the country fairly new 2 management deserves a chance. Needs good men with him. Mulgrew - Good experience as a player. Not so sure about his management credentials done ok with Fermanagh. Ideas may be a bit dated. Doherty - Again Playing experience excellent. Management limited although he had a spell as mentor and selector with the county side. So a definite Maybe. Bonner - Again Playing exp. excellent. Managed at all levels. Dicipline control seems good. Def Maybe. Martin - Just don't know enough about him could be good but not willing to take risk on him. Houston - Once again unsure about his credentials I know he managed a very good St. Eunans team and underachieved so a Def No. So Overall in order of preference 1. Bonner 2. McGuinness 3. Doherty 4. Mulgrew The other 2 in my opinion don't really have a chance.... These 4 have very little between them so will be interesting to see who gets the nod....

Who ever said you need a proven inter county manager to win anything..

Jason Ryan took over in Wexford at the age of 31 with very little experience and took them to an all-Ireland semi final..

Fresh blood with plenty of motivation can go a long way and someone like Jim McGuinness fits the bill.. He would give everything to the job.. which would be a lot more than could be said for some of these so called proven managers from outside the county..

Interesting Donal Reid has shown any interest this around... he applied last year then mc ivor was reappointed..now reid was my choice last year over mc iver, thought mc iver done good job with limited players we have but realistically you cant make a silk purse from a pigs ear... we need to find scoring forwards from play and a midfield.

in my opinion it doesnt matter who gets the job they are going to be treated like rubbish the same way mcivor was.i always felt he didnt get enough support from the county board.someone posted there about approching tomy carr, kernan and the likes who would want the job after what happened to mcivor.some people are criticising the candidates already, the only thing i said was that mulgrew should not get the job not because i have anything against the man but if he gets in the mob will have won and it wont end there cud end up like the cork saga of last year,it would also show that the bigger clubs in the county have all the say,its a grassroots game everyone is supposed to be equal. that said whoever takes over will need to find a few forwards and at least one midfielder we have no options inside other than hoof it into murphy cause he is the only one who looks like he is going to fight for the ball and do something with it if he gets it
