Im from a division four club but will not name my club incase I get targeting for abuse. I have to say the standard is bad there is no decent clubs to be honest thats why they are in divison 4 101 (Down) - Posts: 10 - 11/11/2008 20:25:13 139046 Link 0 |
Attitudes in the last few posts about Div 4 clubs are absymal. Division 4 clubs dont choose to be in Div 4 - they are there because of the circumstances they find themselves in (no players, adverse local conditions etc etc). The efforts that go into the management & running of Div 4 clubs is no less (& arguably more) than that of clubs such as Clonduff, Mayobridge, Liatroim etc (all good sound Clubs) but the return is the same (on the football field) given what each has got to work with. Anything less than a Div 1 placing for Clonduff, for example, would be seen as underachievement (quite rightly). Same for Bryansford, Castlewellan, Downpatrick etc (and some of these are falling well short of the mark). The biggest disgraces in Down are those clubs who should be producing the goods and who are not - their destiny (& their failures) is in their own hands unlike many Div 4 clubs who might struggle to gather up 15 players to make up a team. Div 4 Clubs should be supported more by the rest of the county rather than have their efforts ridiculed by small minded ***holes who can't see beyond their cushioned pavilioned seats. Well said howler couldn't have put it better myself. Our club will be 4th Div next year and as you say it is sometimes just about getting 15 men on the pitch. Support is what is required. WestDownGael (Down) - Posts: 207 - 12/11/2008 10:23:21 139329 Link 0 |

They have to be stopped from being promoted simple as that, the rule book clearly states that once you fail to field twice in 1 league campaign then you have to be expelled from the league, SIMPLE AS THAT!! My_Gee (Down) - Posts: 45 - 13/11/2008 22:23:31 141008 Link 0 |
leechiebuff, what do you mean "You dont know what you are talking about"? I simply stated that I had heard the meeting was on this Friday night (& I did) & that it was a hearing re St Johns (Drumnaquoile) not fielding twice this season (as I understand they didnt from reading other posts in this thread.) How does any of that mean that I dont know what Im talking about? Howler (Down) - Posts: 41 - 13/11/2008 22:53:52 141040 Link 0 |
St Johns have did nothing wrong, The match against Finn was meaningless. Just people on here trying to stir for their own gains, ie, newry clubs!!! Bigbadjonnie (Down) - Posts: 10 - 14/11/2008 21:51:34 141931 Link 0 |

is it true that the bosco went down cause teconnaught had a higher scoring difference??? if it is thats a disgrace. If for argument sake Aghaderg and Dromara finished level on points but dromara had a higher scoring difference would dromara have went up??? i ask this due to the ongoing saga of st johns not fielding, how many points were awarded to Aghaderg for the johnnies not fielding A.Derg??? and thats a perfectly good reason for st johns having to fulfil fixtures, they need the book thrown at them. teconnaught did stay up on point difference. dromara wud not of went up, as the rule last year was passed by the majority of clubs at a county board meeting. the rule only cums into affect in play offs. jk16 (Down) - Posts: 2 - 19/11/2008 14:01:08 144958 Link 0 |
