Replying To Doylerwex:  "I absolutely agree with your point but I would say Dublin have made good progress. They've beaten Munster opposition in championship for the first time in living memory and been in two Leinster finals (granted they haven't performed).

The codds are involved to be fair but only starting out at that level.

It's frustrating to see what Jack is capable of. On his day he can be a match winner. We just haven't seen enough of that in purple and gold.

I wouldn't be critical of Rory. His inconsistencies are mainly down to bad luck with injury. I would say he has delivered for Wexford mostly.

In any case, my point was that if the players we have can get that stuck in and bring that level of effort we'd be there or there abouts at provincial level."
Yes Doyler, Rory is a fantastic player and was indeed dogged with injury. Perhaps he shouldn't have played in some of the games he did. Playing through the pain barrier.

They were viking but I think it's true to say that neither of them got much gametime.
Admittedly injury was the reason in David's case I believe it was.
Hopefully both will see a lot more action come the league and championship.

Replying To Pikeman96:  "It's a fair point about lads in U20 being muscled off the ball this year, but I'd still counter that it's not a change brought about by those lads only having one year of adult hurling under their belts. Think about it. Minor ran at U17 between 2017 and 2022. That means that in 2020, '21, '22, '23 and '24, <u>all</u> our U20s would have had two years of adult hurling. But we didn't win Leinster in any of those years either, and nor is it the case that we weren't also a bit behind in the physical stakes in those years too. It goes deeper than a quick fix of "let them have another year at the adult grades first, and then hopefully we'll be okay"."</div>Your post actually reinforces the point. We went back to u18 at minor for the 2023 season, not the 2022 season. We were much more competitive physically at intercounty u20 in 2022 and 2023. We reached Leinster finals in both those years, and only lost narrowly. The 2024 team wouldve been the first where the up to the age lads only got 1 year at club adult, and any younger lads no adult club experience, in 2023. The u19s wouldve been u18 in 2023 and therefore not allowed to play adult. Our performances at intercounty u20 in 2024 and 2025 were noticeably worse than in 2022 and 2023."
Have only seen this now. Don't intend on dwell for too much longer, but have to point out you've misinterpreted part of what I've said, and you're wrong in other stuff you say yourself.

First, I said "Minor ran at U17 between 2017 and 2022". That's between 2017 and 2022 inclusive. So obviously I already know that it changed back to U18 for 2023. There's no need to "correct" me, because I'm not wrong in the first place.

Now where you're wrong -
The 2024 team wouldve been the first where the up to the age lads only got 1 year at club adult

Anybody up to the age for U20 in 2024 would have been playing U17 in 2021. They'd then have been playing adult in 2022 (when Minor was still U17), and again in 2023 (when they were now overage for Minor even though it had gone back to U18).

That's two years of adult hurling.

David got injured in Portugal, Darren didnt show enough in the League to get Championship starts. It was his first year in though, its totally unreasonable to expect him to jump up to Senior Intercounty championship starting level in his first year in. Only exceptional hurlers manage that.

Replying To Past hurler:  "A Leinster title is definitely there for the taking.

Lawlor is irreplaceable for Kilkenny and TJ Reid will start even though he is finished in my eyes.

If Wexford can get 26 hungry lads with a top class attitude to training and conditioning they will go close.

Some great young lads in that Rathnure and Martins squad and add them to what is there already."
We need a great lead coach in there ASAP.

Couldnt agree more Leinster is there for the taking if we get our house in order
