Imagine how bad of beating we'd have got without him. We should approach Steve Collins's hypnotist for the next outing.

50/50 game in the Minor, only difference is the black card, even enough game in open play, they've hit wides but we've hit wides too, need to stop hitting their sweeper, think the black card rule needs reforming tbh, should consider the double jeopardy rule they have in soccer, a black card and a penalty was disproportionately harsh for the foul in question

Fantastic stuff from the minors in that second half . Backs were heroic . Downey looks a serious prospect . Hopefully they can make it into a Leinster final now would give the county a lift . Huge difference from the first half our forwards workrate went up hugely in the second half . Let's hope the 20s make it 2/2 for the weekend on Monday

Fantastic win for the Minors, was a very intense game for Minor, no quarter asked or given, Westmeath exceptionally unlucky not to make it through, bit of a stupid format and needs changing, think we have a good team on our hands hopefully, lot of good technical hurlers there but well able to mix it physically at the same time, showed a lot of dog to win that game

Great win for the minors.

I guess it means Galway/Dublin are seeded in semi-finals so it'll be one of those two next up for the minors. What's the story with venue? Do the seeded teams get home advantage or a neutral venue?

Well done to the minors, great result. There is nothing between the last four teams. Hopefully we get the rub of the green and get to a leonster final. We ate certainly good enough

I've never seen a Galway minor/u20/u21 hurling side with home advantage, since they joined Leinster, or possibly ever for that matter.

Galway U20s and minor hurlers had home matches in Ballinasloe last year.

Good game today. My bet is the final will be a repeat fixture. I'd imagine it's a Galway v Wexford and Dublin v KK in the semis to avoid repeat pairings in the semi. You'd have to say Hurling in the weaker counties is the real looser with the current format. It must be a hard to take if you are Westmeath player this evening after amounting 4 points in 3 games we are the only team that beat them mad really.

Yeah, would say they'll be using a different format next year alright

Hard to know what the right format to use is though, have to give Weastmeath/Laois/Offaly/Kildare/Antrim/Carlow/Meath/Down the chance to qualify but they want to be on an equal footing once they qualify for the Leinster Championship proper and once you do that, you don't have that many gameweeks left

Could maye start the Leinster Minor qualifiers a few weeks earlier and then have two groups of 4 like at U20, would require one extra round

Well done to JJ Doyle and backroom another good championship win. In fairness to him he leaves no stone unturned in getting the best out of his teams. Great to get a win v Kilkenny in championship hurling. Roll on the semi

That was a stirring victory for the minors. I just got to see it now.
What is it about Wexford forwards and workrate? It was non-existent in the first half but once we upped the ante in the second, they had no answer.
There is just no substitute for workrate, if its missing you will win no game. Pressure on any player forces mistakes.
That guy Downey at centre back is a star in the making, but its a long road to senior. Cormac Doyle as well, but it was a team effort.
Good to put a smile on Wexford faces again. We now need to go and win Leinster. No point winning that if we don't back it up.
JJ as done a good job, is he next man up for the seniors?

He has the best CV and pedigree across different levels to be the outstanding candidate within the county.

While it was a stirring win yesterday we have won many group games v Kilkenny and Dublin over the last few years. The real tests start now.
This team has consistently been in the top 4/5 in Ireland since U14 so we should not get carried away beating a Kilkenny team who had very little to play for in Wexford Park.
We need two more victories from now on if we are to consider this the most successful minor campaign since 2026. We are definitely capable of that but IMO thats the marker of success for this current team.

It was a must win group game for us all the same. But agree, the only knockout wins we have had at minor in the last couple of years came against Laois, Offaly and Cork. We lost to Galway, Dublin, Limerick and Clare in knockout minor games in the same period.
Agreed, it would be nice to see the lads win a few more knockout games and see where that takes them.

A good win over Kilkenny even though on home soil will give the Minors some belief. Like a lot of ye said Downey is a class act, best hurler on the field. But don't fall into the trap, We were playing at home to Kilkenny who already qualified for the Leinster Minor Semi Finals. It's only Now the real Hurling Starts and now up against the favourites who we have not beaten in a long while. Beat Galway and then you will see the leaders and future prospects and go out to win Leinster as if our lives depended on it. For the moment,Park the KK game and concentrate solely on Galway.
