Inexcusable lack of intensity from us so far considering Kildare would have earmarked this game as a potential win and we should have been prepared. They have the freedom of the park with their puckouts. We'll never learn to defend high balls in the absence of Jippo too will we?
Big performance needed after the break.

This feels very similar to the game in Down and it's the poorest we've been since the lull in the second half up there. Not sure what the answer to the problem at 6 is because it's not Reck and it's not Lawlor.

Content with the win, with plenty of scope for improvement ahead of what should be a caludron in Nowlan Park against the wounded (but beatable) Cats.
Upped the intensity levels after the break and some of the new lads showed up well, especially Wickham who proved some of the doubters wrong. I think he compliments Hearne well in the middle. Carley had his best game in a Wexford jersey imo and O'Leary looks to be an addition too. Bit of a reality check for Roche though, although I wouldn't be too worried about his credentials at championship level.
Navigated a potential banana skin quite well after which is the main thing. And going by noise elsewhere online, this Kilkenny team are in a bit of a rut so aren't to be feared. Although may have a point to prove Saturday week. With Offaly bloodying Dublin's nose today, it looks like tighter than ever before

Take that. Shocking pitch, not great on the first half but certainly improved and grew in confidence. It's a long time since we could say our subs improved us. Some good champions debuts as well. Got the job done, on to the next assignment.
It's not ideal for us that Kilkenny got hammered. They'll be saucy, but we just have to bring our very best performance. We've won in nowlan park in the championship before. I think the only county to have done so actually.
Fair play to Offaly, from what I hear they should have won it. A draw there was a good result for us.
Leinster could have some surprises.

Watch the Galway V KK game, and unless you think Galway are up there with Limerick et al. (we aren't) you'll be comforted by how ordinary the stripey men are these days.
Go up there to win and be disappointed if you don't.

Probably went how I expected, was uncomfortable for long periods but we just ground them down in the end
Thought the effort levels were good and it wasn't as if we were physically bullied, biggest area for improvement was our first touch in the forwards, we were unable to make the ball stick in the first half although at the same time, the last time a Championship game was played on that bad a surface was back in the 1930s
Only out-scored them by 1-11 to 1-10 from play which is disappointing given that while their S&C is very good, they've a very clear tactical plan, and they've a lot of belief in themselves, they're a very limited team from a hurling perspective, their forwards weren't really able to hurt us much from open play outside of Sheridan and their backs struggled when pressed and/or required to strike it off the hurl
Need better games from nearly everyone in the forwards next week
Thought our game-plan was good enough, looked like we were playing into a decent enough wind in the first half but pressing the puck-out disrupted their running/hand-passing game, ended up baiting them into making mistakes when they tried to do stuff they were unable to do
Sruggled with some of their longer puck-outs into space in the first half but with us pushing up and with their wind advantage, something had to give
Somewhat flattered by the score-line, they should've been ahead at the break had they not hit some very poor wides. At the same time, we actually hit more wides than them across the entire 70 minutes (12 to 11) although I feel like our wides weren't as bad as theirs, they hit a few wide from fairly central positions

We done what had too do upped the intensity in the 2nd half which was needed, still a little bit too over reliant on chin 1.12 think highest scorer after that was 2 points but got the win and need the intensity to be there from start next week, win up there in a very good position although as mentioned leinster is going to throw up few surprises this year I heard at match yesterday Eoin whelan has packed it in due to lack of playing time pity that if true as seen him play in couple of walsh Cup games and thought he did OK,anyway on too nolan park for next day out.

I could nt have te game for family celebration reasons was listening to splatter and co on the radio. I m not good at watching on TV or listening to our games . Had to turn it off a few times just for nerves but had phone watching twitter for score updates . Jesus its the worst feeling if you are not there abd used to going to most games . . Got the win most important . Was hoping we d be a bit more free flowing but by sound of it the pitch was partially to blame for the lack of continuity . Plus maybe a little cynical fouling by kildare not allowing us to build momentum . Kildare obviously gad targeted areas to cause us problems . Was it the case their puck outs were well drilled on trauning ground or we just conceded them . It sounded like everything good they did came from uncontestd puck outs . Hopefully going forward a bit of competition for places now . It sets up nicely for the next games . Every game is winnable or loveable whichever you prefer or . Will be some atmosphere in tullamore as I think both teams regardless of results will still have chance of at worst 3rd position if we can get a result v dublin or kilkenny it will be hopping .
Saturday the 9th/10th leinsters super hurling weekend this will be the weekend to sort the men from the boys. Most anticipated weekend in long time in leinster hurling . The draw for offaly was massive for them and the championship as a whole . Watched good bit of it Offaly They were full value for the result and so unlucky not to get the win they probably just about deserved . Their inside forward play was lovely to watch pace touch ruthless . Mitchell was unreal for lad that's only back from injury . Talented bunch of young hurlers . Regardless of size difference u cant beat pace and touch i know size will poib catch them out against bigger teams with more skill but its lovely to see scores coming from skill quick thinking pace . rather than brute force . their touch was that bit better than Dublin which created the scoring chances . They stretched dublin whenever they could . Saying that Dublin showed a lot of resilience too and probably were nt at their best either . We are warned we need to be at the top of our game to get any result in our remaining games . As I said all winnable and all loseable depends on how we turn up . On the day .
