Martins totally outclassed in second half, kept it to ballygunner for 40 mins!!! Martins we're always goin to be under pressure in this game, what it boiled down to was which team could stay true to how they played there game and ballygunner did that!!! Both teams play similar, high intensity lots of tackles turn overs!!! I think ballygunner are just battled hardened and didn't panic and cruised to victory!!! Joe Barrett impressive as the spare man not sure about his defensive skills when marking as was mahoney at the other end!!! I think ballygunner win final easy!! Martins reverted to the old wexford way when the real pressure came on,long aimless ball to nobody!! All the O'connors well marked and they struggled for scores as a result!! Martins have to be happy with the year,it was fantastic and well done to all!!! They are on a completely different level to all other teams in wexford, like the good oulart team!! You would imagine they will go on a run of a couple more championships, age profile very good and you cant really see anyone else get close as long as they stick together down there!!! This is not a dig at Barry O'connor but i felt the talk of him goin in to hurl with wexford as some sort of saviour was a bit over the top!!! I think the calibre of backs he hurled on in wexford are bang average and I think he got dealt with fairly easy the last 2 days on 2 very good hurlers and I think he would struggle against intercounty defences big time!!! As regards Jack he had his best year ever with club,I think he should concentrate on the club now,as he doesn't perform like that with wexford very often!!

Buffers Alley won 1 of the 2 finals they were in. Rathnure have lost 5 finals, though they came close in some of them.

Antrim Clubs have won more Senior AI titles than Wexford ones.

Replying To Past hurler:  "Martins are in a very good place with 3 adults team in the championship. 1 in Senior, 1 in Inter A and 1 in Junior B.

Lads performing very well for the Inter A team in the Martins have a very good chance then of stepping up to senior.

They are flying in the Rackard leagues in Primary school too so that is where their hard work is starting.

I'd imagine Martins would love another crack at Leinster after having a right cut off Na Fianna last year."
Frustrating enough 2nd half . Hard to know if st martins tired after the immense first half . With the celebrations and wedding it has to have had some affect . Regardless of hiw disciplined they were.
Can't put ur whole life on hold for hurling . And if they did celebrate they were entitled too .
Did Ballygunner find a 2nd gear or did martins just lose that extra few per cent they has in 1st half .
The space in the middle became more congested so the ball going in was nt ideal . Where ballg were moving ball quicker and seemed to be longer short passes where in first half they were getting bottled up on the short short passes and turned over . Start of 2nd half ref start blowing for stuff he let go in 1st half.
All of sudden its level and ref changed his decision making . Not saying they were nt fouls but hard to change yiur tackling intensity during a game .
Only thing I can think of is in 2nd half martins did nt commit as many into the tackle in the 2nd half longer short passing took that oppurtunity away . Makes it easier for refs to decide what is a foul when 1 on 1 tackling .
Couple of missed good scoring chances by st martins snd Rorys pull down suddenly to refs change of interpretation sucked the energy out of st martins and in that 10 min spell ballyg put the game to bed . The introduction of the young Hartley chap gave them that extra energy and used the space and his touch to really put them to the sword . Was certainly a huge part in the winning of the game . Martins kept on plugging away but they never really looked like getting the goals needed for the grandstand finish .
Well done to them on a brilliant leinster campaign and hard luck yesterday .
Where to improve ballyg won prob 70% of rucks
Scoring ratio say was probably less than 50% to chances it sucked the energy out of them after working so hard to create those chances. If yiu want to beat a team like ballyg u need at least 70%+ on the day hard to achieve under immense pressure though .
Hope they learn and if they get through wexford and leinster have a little more experience of what's needed at that level .
First half goal (coleman) own goal should ve stood might have given them more energy to defend a 5pt half time lead . But thats sport wont be.the last time a controversial decision goes for or against a team .

I've looked at that Coleman "goal" umpteen times and am probably going against the grain here, but I think the referee was right not to allow it.

I do strongly think it should have been a penalty, but when the referee didn't award the penalty, he couldn't award the goal either:
- Coleman was knocked to the ground while in possession. Left arm outstretched, and ball in hand.
- Ballygunner man's foot connected with Coleman's forearm, causing him to lose control of the ball. The foot did not connect with the ball itself.
- Ball then travelled to the net directly from Coleman's hand, without anybody or anything else touching it.
- Rules clearly say that you can't score with the hand, unless you just knock the ball on while it's already in flight (similar to how you can score a goal with the hand in football).

Still 100% think it should have been a penalty, though.
