Provincial Final Replays - Good Idea Or Bad Idea?

Replying To edu:  "Donegal v Armagh in the Ulster final this year came very close to being level after extra time If it had finished level and there was a replay then that would have meant Donegal would have played 5 games in the Ulster Championship."
So you implicitly opt for "result on the day"?

Result on the day yes. In the pre mentioned scenario Donegal would have played 5 games as opposed to about half the teams in the provincials having had only one game. Was Jim Mcguinness not on about how tough and compact Donegals Ulster campaign was and then to throw the potential of a final replay into the mix--well that might a bit too much. Anyways after all the Provincial finals are not knock out in relation to the All Ireland series.

Surely on a day like today the GAA must be thinking what are we doing.
Westmeath Dublin on a new day in Croke Park next week would have drawn a huge crowd after the excitement today. Same as Monaghan vs Armagh. Everyone would have been delighted to have another day out in Clones on Ulster Final day. Trying to fit everything into a tight schedule instead of playing the 70 minutes and then a replay.
Hopefully we see a change to this rule for next year.
