They are an awful sensitive bunch your right ! Down have a good chance at beating them . If they don't and get Monaghan you'd also have a good chance. Galway are not a great team without Comer in it . Andy Moran is doing a great job with Monaghan ! S1234 (Mayo) - Posts: 220 - 18/06/2025 10:48:35 2618938 Link 1 |
I think about 8 teams have a realistic chance of winning it and if I had to put money down I'd put it on Armagh

Also I wouldn't read too much into that stat. aside from the Ulster draw it's down to seeding. Always likely to be like that as bottom seeds and the inequality of the provincial breakdown. Not a dig or whinge, just a reality.

I really feel like Dublin arent being talked about enough. I might be mad or scarred by 2010s but I think they are going to win the All Ireland. trimmer (Meath) - Posts: 549 - 18/06/2025 12:13:14 2618973 Link 0 |

He's a mayo man to the core. He won't be a mayo manager next year but will in a few years for sure .

They must be delighted with all the talk of multiple contenders. Kerry too, despite their travails at the weekend. Have to say, it would feel like a bit of an anticlimax if either go on to win the thing after this years vintage championship.

Both could of course win it, but both are also beatable. There's no clear and obvious standout and the bookies odds reflect this. Things like the draw teams get, injuries and of course an off-day for whatever reason will have a big impact on who lifts Sam at the end. The truth is there's a cohort of counties who are legitimate contenders and all could beat each other on a given day. The uncertainty makes for a very exciting championship. Your some sad man ! Calling every 2nd person this so called Clare one including my own account I finally know who this Clare one is as I checked the blog out . Would you ever get a life . Just because you don't like what she says you go on to troll everyone's account on here that you think might be hers. Now that's just pathetic man grow up but wouldn't expect anything less from a Galway one ! S1234 (Mayo) - Posts: 220 - 18/06/2025 12:46:08 2618986 Link 0 |
Same in 2023 when it felt very open back then. Dublin wont commit as many technical fouls or kick as many wides as that Armagh match again. And the Galway and Derry matches show they're still capable of beating strong teams. Cluxton back to his best also. All home games from here. Looking good for the Dubs. trimmer (Meath) - Posts: 549 - 18/06/2025 13:24:01 2618998 Link 0 |
I think you're right. The received wisdom is take your point when you can when you're running out of time. And I think that if they'd decided to wait until the hooter and then go for it but lost possession, they'd never hear the end of it. But it's still food for thought. In Super Bowl XLVI in February 2012, the New York Giants needed just a field goal to take the lead. They tried running down the clock but the New England Patriots saw the writing on the wall and actually let them in for a touchdown; the guy who scored looked almost reluctant; he realised too late what was happening. Look it up. But they let in that score rather than let the Giants wind down the clock and have an easy winning kick at the end; instead they let the Giants score and therefore they'd have another minute themselves to win it with a touchdown. (In the end, the Patriots weren't able to get there touchdown and the Giants won the Super Bowl 21-17, but at least they gave themselves the chance.) This scenario might not be applicable here - or is it? - but you can see how the Giants' approach to wait until the end to take the lead (and they would have taken the lead) was clever time management. That said, Mayo weren't certain to equalise even if they had waited until after the hooter. So maybe scoring when they did was the right thing. I dunno. Dolfos, Fitz should be full for that game. Kerry County Council (aka as The Healy Rae family and mad supporters of all things Kingdom, particularly the GAA) have cancelled all sheep-shearing and goat-milking feiseanna around the county, so that the only event people can attend is the Cavan game.

Well of course you don't KNOW for a fact that the Giants would have scored with no time left. You can surmise it, but you don't KNOW it. Three years later, Seattle had first and goal at the 2, TD to almost certainly win, but instead we got the Superbowl's 'Seamus Darby moment' just seconds later. Sometimes the longer Mayo spend fluting around to setup scores, the less successful they are. This year's Connacht Final climax is a recent example.
