Correct. It's only Galway who have made an All-Ireland final after coming through a preliminary quarter.
We've only had 2 years of the format so far though, so it's not much of a sample size.

Have Monaghan at 40/1. In to 18/1 now. I think they are being greatly under-estimated. Sole loss narrowly to Donegal. I reckon they will make it to semi final at least.

I have to say, while still not perfect, I do like most of the new rules in football. The game is now much more watchable imo. That said, it must be nigh on impossible to fully police the 2 point scoring rule. I've witnessed more than one occasion where a player's striking boot is inside the 40m arc although most of the rest of him is outside. Who makes the initial call to award 2 points? Does the ref signal the umpire to put up the orange flag? Unlike our soccer friends, Gaelic football doesn't yet have the "benefit" of Value Added Referee or whatever its called.
One other thing, I think a special medal should be struck for the first player to score a goal from outside the 40m arc. An award of 4 points is not enough.

The ref signals the umpire indeed by putting both hands up. From what I've seen, the ref goes off where the grounded boot is as it's a real judgement to see where the striking boot is.

Goals outside 40m arc still only 3 points no bonus for those. That's a fair point though they might have to look at that!

It has made a huge difference. Haven't watched as much football in years.

Only quibble I have is the movement of the ball to 21 for frees other end of pitch for technical infringements. Some of which over weekend were dubious in my eyes and they were mostly neutral.

It is disproportionate but that's minor I suppose given the improvement. Some epics already and the actual knockouts from now on are certain to produce classics.

According to an article, somewhere on an RTE website, by Kevin McDaid a lecturer in Dundalk IT it is 4 but who's to say he's correct.

I know what's happening , and when. Couldn't resist reciprocating the vote of no confidence to the Monaghan poster though.
