Replying To Ratoath Royal:  "There is pressure on both teams. This is not like 2010 where Meath went in as unbackable favourites and it was Louth's first final in 50 years. This will be Louth's third Leinster final in a row. They were hockeyed by Dublin in the first, were relatively competitive against Dublin last year (despite never really looking like they were going to win). This year, it won't be against Dublin so there will definitely be more expectation than the last two years and particularly compared to 2010. Also, having beaten Meath in the championship and the league the last two meetings, there is pressure for them to follow up with another victory when there's silverware on the line.

However, there's also pressure on us, let's not kid ourselves. First Leinster team to beat Dublin in 15 years was incredible, but will count for naught if we don't beat Louth. In 2010, we failed to perform in the final having deservedly beaten Dublin. Louth are a much better team than 2010 so if we're not at a similar level as last Sunday, Louth will be out of sight by the end. However, I'm fairly confident that the management have already taken steps to reign in any celebrations. Even with the pitch invasion, the trainers were warming down players amongst the crowd.

It's impossible to call. Jones in midfield should give us the edge in that area but Louth's forward line is probably operating at a higher level than hours and they seem to be more economical with their chances (one of the main reasons they beat Kildare) so we'll definitely need to improve in that area if we're to win.

Cannot bloody wait. My kids have never seen the men win a thing so there is huge excitement for them."
Jones in Midfield you say? Was he not doing his good work in the league from wing forward? Jack Flynn will be back for this game so will be him and Menton in midfield. Tommy Durnin is a big worry for me, he dominated menton/flynn in the league this year and Jones/mcbride last year. If we are serious about winning this game against a very good Louth team I think Jamie Murphy has to play some part.

Shutting down Tommy Durnin, Craig Lennon and Sam Mulroy crucial to our progress next Sunday. It is noticeable that we have significantly strengthened half backline since league finished. I expect Flynn will probably start and perhaps Jones may be kept in reserve again to see out the game as unsure if Duke or Curtis would lose out from the start. Both impressed in championship so far. The bench is so crucial with each of the subs making telling contributions last day out. Agree Murphy should be already an option of bench but not sure how involved he has been with the group yet. Maybe just a little too soon.

The Player The Manager and the Pundit
Just read Colm O Rourke's article to day as i did last Sunday as usual. He was very definite last Sunday Meath had not a hope of beating Dublin. This Sunday its all about tougher days ahead against Louth. Colm would know from his teaching days copying is not allowed That was Robbie Brennan's response on the spot after the match .Then i must remember punditry is mainly about waffle anyway with no accountability.....Robbie's gig is all about accountability .Well done Robbie you delivered and you issued a warning to your players a lot of learning from the Dublin match and game by game on continuous improvement Your players played with belief and its clear your style is to encourage and support players .Its also clear whatever your doing keep doing it.
Shur even Louth would have beaten Dublin last Sunday so would Kildare. For further balance an d objectivity i will add in I think even Skyrne would have beaten Dublin last Sunday,. Further balance and objectivity promps me that as Colm said IF Dean rock Fenton and some others were on last sunday......more waffle To add to the waffle IF Trevor Giles,G Geraty and big Mac himself were on for Meath ........... EXCUSES I have looked through Robbie'S comments since he started the gig .....he does not deal in excuses . Not a mention of 5 years to beat Dublin yeh but that was not the real Dublin oh there i go excuses i should know better
Funny on assessment then Player COR one all time great for Meath Manager...the new sylabus suggests self assessment Pundit.......well it does not matter to anyone only the editor of the INDO so pass
RB player knows the game and keeping up to speed on new rules etc. Manager... very promising with player centred style Punditry.....non runner but interviews straight forward ,no ego, and feet on the ground.
Anyway say it as you see it !...Its only a game!

I wouldn't pay any attention to what that man says nobull . It's all "if my granny had wheels, she'd be a bike" kind of stuff.

Beating Dublin was a big one for us - they're the first Division 1 side we've taken down in a long time. To be fair, the Division 1 teams have all been fairly evenly matched this year, with the exception of Derry.

Looking ahead to next Sunday, I'm really looking forward to the game. Hopefully we get a strong crowd, decent weather, and it's great to see young Morris looking alright on that leg .

Does anyone actually know what the story is with Morris' injury?

He was taking part of the training session in dunboyne yesterday taking shots and lots of running, but he did have straps on his leg but other then that you wouldn't think there was that much wrong with him.

Great if he were back sooner rather than later. Sometimes an injury like that on the knee from a knock can have severe bruising but not actually have long term consequences. Hopefully that is the case.

Agree, beating Dublin got the monkey off our back. Were you reading the sports section or the reminiscing for old people section.
I don't think Robbie is finished development yet. He worked on the squad he took over and brought back a few . He will have continuous learning in the club championship. If he can bring the squad on more before the all Ireland series meath could have a right crack at it.

Absolute disgrace that there are several fixtures of the A Leages down for Sunday morning on what is the biggest day in Meath football for 15 years.

No chance most these players will make it to Dublin on time to support the ladies at 2. Honestly don't know why the county board couldn't have pushed all these games back a few weeks, or played them the Thurs/Fri/Sat. Ridiculous

Yeah nothing new here, agree it's the biggest day in Meath in the championship for a number of years. Apart from effecting teams involved, supporters probably skip club fixtures an head on into croker , ccc set out fixtures, opposing clubs will have to come together agree a suitable date either Thursday, Friday or Saturday, both clubs contact ccc and hopefully have it sanctioned if referee is available , don't see a problem if all agree

Couldn't agree more, absolute brain dead stuff. All games on Sunday should be off.

I haven't read CORs article yet.
I wouldn't like to get into criticising COR too much on the back of what happened this so far year after he's left.
Things are positive at the moment (for at least a few more days anyway), just enjoy and keep it constructive.

Criticising COR the person rubbish....i don't know the man As i said in my post COR the player an all time great player for Meath and i remain convinced on that.. Punditry Well i consider all punditry as ''waffle shop stuff ....anyway talk is cheap It was an amazing change in Meath status in a week not a hope in hell of beating Dublin or be within 10 points and then they do . and i agree Dublin were not at their best the dogs in the street saw that.. . etc etc Ah no I firmly believe Robbie appears to have at long last started to instil a culture of belief and encouragement in the players .I know it is subjective to suggest but i think that was and still is very necessary.
Only a fool believes one swallow makes a summer anyway . Louth match is 50/50 but they will be well prepared for sure. I am impressed by Brennan's after match comments where he immediately focused on learning from the Dublin game ,and a lot of work to be done in preparation for Louth feet on the ground stuff...concentrating on learning as tool on the way to continuous. progress rather than issuing an overload of excuses why that cant happen. I think there was learning for all interested parties with the Dublin match..... I note you use the word Constructive and rightly so, but i think that should include everyone who comments on the game especially those that should be interested in Meath's vision for continuous progress. We should never forget this forum is just about opinions anyway

More what I'd hope to see rather then expect

1. Hogan
2.Lavin
3. Rafferty
4.Keogan
5. O'Neill
6. Coffey
7. Caufield
8. Flynn
9. Menton
10. Duke
11. Kinsella
12. Jones
13. Conlon
14. Costello
15. Frayne

I get people would like to see jones come off the bench and make an impact the way he did v Dublin. But if he's good to play then he has to start for me. Not too long ago he was our best player and his absence showed how important he is.

B.Hogan

Lavin Rafferty O Halloran

Keogan Coffey Caulfield

Menton Flynn

Duke Costello Kinsella

Conlon Curtis Frayne

The only change I would see from the above is Costello moving to midfield and Jones coming in at 11 with Kinsella dropping to bench.

Have a feeling Jones will be held so as to come on and make impact.

Adam O Neill unlucky to miss out but I expect himself and the subs to have role.
