I wouldn't agree with you on that. They had a bad day at the office against an outstanding team. I don't think hype has anything to do with it at all. They were brilliant against us and Tipperary. They were, by their own admission flat and not at the races. Now they've been asked a question, we'll see on Sunday if they can answer it.

I don't know one Cork person (I'm guessing I'd know a lot more than you) who thought the AI was in the bag. These people you know from Cork wouldn't be in primary school by any chance?

The only people who think cork already have in the bag are people outside the county

People started this "I told you so stuff" at this point last year about Cork. Started slow and picked it up, as they will again. Never said they couldn't be beat here and there, even said you'd now have to beat them twice in a season in an earlier post! 32_4_1 (Meath) - Posts: 4164 - 20/05/2025 18:59:46 2611395 Link 0 |
I know a lot of Cork lads and after Cork won the league they were telling me not a team in the country can touch them. Now those lads were from outside the county but they are from Cork.I never find Cork too shy .Im from Dublin originally and all I hear is Cork is the real capital bla bla bla.

They're only pulling your leg! Cork people are generally of a shy/quiet disposition....

So you can't take a joke. How often do dublin people call us Boggers, Mucksavages, culchies etc. You can dish it but you can't take it

Oh I love a hop ball. I think Cork are a very good hurling team and have produced many top sportspeople in this country.I just think that Cork people can be very arrogant and think they are the best at everything. Its no coincidence that the section of Munster rugby supporters that can be arrogant are normally from Cork too. brayballer (Wicklow) - Posts: 171 - 24/05/2025 17:24:38 2612084 Link 0 |

But sure we are Boggers, Muck Savages and Culchies.

But sure we are Boggers, Muck Savages and Culchies. There was a Bogmans Ball for years held down in the Devon Inn. It was always a Gala Occasion and we Muck Savges, attired in all our finery, came from far and near, to attend it. Sadly it's gone all Upmarket now and it's rather grandiosely renamed the Diesel Man's. I cannot bear the onset of such sophistication. There was a Bogman's ball alive and running at Peacockes Hotel at Maam cross in Connemara for years. Unfortunately hotel is now temporarily closed but the functions was run by the Keogh family at the property since 1980!

Think this thread is redundant…. Obviously lots of counties can stop Cork. We're major underdogs against Limerick for Munster final, and maybe the thread should be. "Who can stop Limerick this year "? Ryanteam (Cork) - Posts: 570 - 26/05/2025 18:01:52 2612854 Link 0 |
Major underdogs? The best price you can get on Cork to beat Limerick is 6/4.

Perfect situation for Cork going into this Munster final. Limerick has shown its hand. Cork now know what Limerick can do, so can plan accordingly. No one is giving Cork a chance and that is when Cork is dangerous. Even if they lose Cork will be still in the championship, so that pressure is off, so the players can go out and have a real cut. Limerick on the other hand will probably not be able to produce a half of hurling as good as the first half the last day out, as that was arguably the best half of hurling ever hurled. Then there's the added pressure of trying to deliver the Magnificent 7, which has never ever been done before, in front of their own fans at home; trying to keep Mackey in the county. Anything less than a 16-point win, and we all know that won't happen again, will almost feel like a defeat for Limerick after the last day. No, everything is set up perfectly for Cork. You know what...I'd actually have them as favorites for this Munster title. foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2302 - 26/05/2025 19:14:54 2612878 Link 0 |
Both Peacocke's and the Carna Bay Hotel have been hosting Ukrainians for the past 2 years or more but if you want to visit an genuine old pub, originally built in 1820, call into Keane's Bar in Maam valley. Lovely spot!

Cork are still the best of the rest, and I still think there's a lot of hurling still to be done in this championship. A lot will depend on the draws for the AI semi finals as that is a game that Limerick could be caught in, for that to play out Galway would have to beat KK in Leinster final which is possible though unlikely. Been there… yes … beautiful location and friendly owners!

Munster final has lost some of its importance. Loser plays most likely Dublin in quarters, and then if winning that game face winner of KK/ Galway in semifinal. Leinster final losers have a difficult game against Tipperary so the reward for winning is there!
