Situation : Player is through on goal, takes shot, goalie throws his hurl at him and deflects the ball over the bar. liam500 (Wicklow) - Posts: 197 - 08/04/2025 10:42:22 2601064 Link 0 |
I think score stands. You don't disallow a score after a foul to give a free / penalty. As for the red card - it depends on if the throw of the hurl was a danger to the opponent or not. If it was a red card should be given; if not its a technical foul so no card. Sounds like the ref judged the throw to not be dangerous to the player and got the decision right as per the rule book. Of course - a situation like that; perhaps an option of a penalty would be better; but that's not in the rules. brianb (Kildare) - Posts: 417 - 08/04/2025 11:22:28 2601072 Link 1 |
Yeah, throwing the hurl in a non-dangerous manner is a technical foul, and the penalty for a technical foul committed inside your own large paralellogram is a 20-metre free. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2807 - 08/04/2025 20:24:58 2601159 Link 1 |
It would open another can of worms. Even if it was obvious he throws it at the ball in this instance who is going to make the calls if the stick slips from the hand when making the save. Or the force of the shot knocks it out. Correct decision. Different story if thrown towards the free taker. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 3005 - 12/04/2025 19:16:57 2601613 Link 0 |
Of course advantage was played but option of a free or penalty always there

It's pretty obvious if a hurl is thrown, hardly slips 4-5 yards Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 2110 - 12/04/2025 23:31:45 2601653 Link 0 |
The OP told us that it was thrown, so your comment is mute.
