The problem is that county minor managers only pick players from these development squads and the days of going to see players playing for their clubs seems long gone… lots of talent slip through the net because of this… Players in these development squads also get comfortable and complacent as they know they have one arm already in a county jersey.. It's simply not working for Cavan football that's for sure if what's taking the field at minor and U 20/21 for the last number of years is anything to go by..! That's exactly the problem at all underage levels in Cavan Football, and not just managers, you've got selectors bringing in players from their own clubs too (some selectors picking sons or nephews too), players that are not good enough and are taking up places that other players should be taking up on merit.

a bit of talk about st pats going co-ed is there? seems a push towards single sex schools getting chop in next 10 years and all boys are first in firing line im hearing. Labour party and greens were for it in a big way. media seems to love bringing it up as well, would there be much difference for football? seems not to have bothered Moate who went co ed in mid 90s they are always going well in boys and girls football in A grade, I wonder what affect it will have on st mels in longford went co ed this year as did jarlaths in Tuam. smaller county towns seem to be going that way. dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 811 - 27/01/2025 22:40:39 2588066 Link 0 |
