Nah the railway cup was discontinued a few years back over player welfare.

Although football is happening this year to test rules.

The hurling is kind of a mismatch anyway. Unfortunately the levels in the north and the west are nowhere near Leinster or Munster which is a shame.

Used to be a great chance for the odd hurler from a weaker county to get some recognition

Absolutely, Derry, down, Carlow, laois etc. Would always produce a few hurlers and that was a big stage for them.

I said it before it was important for Wexford lads when things weren't going well that they'd get in the starting 15 full of hotys from Kilkenny.
