SATURDAY'S CLUB RESULTS

Cuala possibly have gotten through the match that is most likely to determine the Leinster champions. A good attacking game live on RTE. Far better and competitive than any Dublin intercounty games in the province.
Kilcoo and Ballina Stephenites progressed to their respective semi-finals as expected.

Huge crowd too. Must have been 6/7,000. Both well supported and proof that you can be a "super club" - as both Naas and Cuala are relative to others - and have big community support outside of the playing numbers. Crokes footballers have very small numbers. Hurlers a bit better attended.

Great first half between Corofin v Padraig Pearces, really good counter attacking football. One thing I've noticed is how has the ref not pulled PP's no 15 for steps? He took over 10 steps for the goal and the point before half time. I noticed it a couple of weeks ago in another championship match it seems players are getting away with it. Maybe instead of new rule changes they need to look at the basics a bit more.

For the goal would have been a peno if not allowed extra steps for the goal. Always happens refs allow extra steps when fouled.
Point before half time should been pulled.
And I am no Pearses fan.
Corofin we're very poor. No forwards any good.
Pearses will take beaten now

Big win for Dr Crokes over Castlehaven. It was a good attacking game. Dr Crokes are going well. A lot of confidence in the side and rightly so after a successful year so far. Waterford champions up next.
Éire Óg will be pleased. Poor Adare forced to play only a week after winning Limerick. Will be interesting to see how they get on against the Tipp champions.
A good win for Clann Eireann in Ulster. Errigal Ciaran through as well. Kilcoo won yesterday. Going to be some battle for that Ulster title.
Ardee and Tullamore through to the Leinster semi-finals. It has been a great weekend of football. There's even a quarter-final coming up on Tuesday night!!

Where is the GPA player welfare brigade in all of this congestion or are they blind to all outside of the elite county setup??

Limerick are one of the few counties not giving their champions more than a week to prepare. 8 rounds of hurling and 8 rounds of football to get through.
Following the weekends results; Cuala, Dr Crokes, Padraig Pearses and Kilcoo are among the current favourites.

Watching Cuala twice this year,.I'd fancy St Mary's of Louth to beat them
They are a serious team, 6 or 7 Louth players on their team aswell

Interesting. St. Mary's are going strong. Their semi-final opponents are yet to be confirmed. Should be an interesting final if it pans out as you're predicting.

Pádraig Pearse are most impressive team ive seen so far. Wet my beak at 10/1.

Rossie form is good form and they took Corofin- many people's favourite let it be recalled- apart.

Final score nó reflection on dominance imho.

Coolera-Standhill upset the odds to knock Ballina out on penalties. Padraig Pearses blew Mohill away in the second half. Padraig Pearses will be raging hot favourites in the final.
Scotstown have the tough challenge of Kilcoo next. St Lomans has a good win today.
Scotstown interestingly are the current slight favourites to win Ulster. Padraig Pearses, Cuala and Dr Crokes are clear favourites. Cuala the overall favourites.

Ballina as getting beaten may be a shock to those outside the county but not for most within. It will be 10 years next year since a Mayo senior club won Connacht. The standard of the Mayo senior championship is very worrying. As for our county team I fear 2025 will be worse than 2024.

I saw some of the Mayo final on ****.
I have to say I thought it was a poor standard.
