My All Star team based on the nominations and trying not to pick just form the All-Ireland Final/Semi Final
1. Nickie Quaid 2. Adam Hogan 3. Eoin Downey 4. Huw Lawlor 5. David McInerney 6. Rob Downey 7.Kyle Hayes 8. Darragh Fitzgibbon 9. Tony Kelly 10. David Fitzgerald 11. Lee Chin 12Shane Barrett 13. Mark Rodgers 14. Shane O'Donnell 15. Brian Hayes
Hurler of the Year: Shane O'Donnell (I don't anyone can debate this) Young Hurler of the Year: Eoin Downey (because he had the biggest impact on Corks previously weakest line prior to this year, but it nobody could complain if Adam Hogan or Cathal O'Neill gets the award on the night)

I can't see any scenario where he doesn't get it. He was an exceptional talent when he came along but he's improved and reinvented himself again.
Articulate, humble, honest, hard working, by all accounts seems a fantastic lad. The ultimate ambassador for our sport.

How can Lee Chin be anymore near an all team for scoring frees or chipping in from play against Antrim, Laois, Carlow or a very poor Galway.
When it mattered most against Kilkenny and Clare he did not perform and managed a point from play in both games. Cleary destroyed him in the quarter final.

I don't take notice of this process in years since it starting jockeying players around in positions to fit. There was a time when the best fullback or midfielder or center forward was picked. Today it should still be where named at on the team despite the moving around. If there was an award for courage, commitment, influence on a game and shear anticipation of play it would go to Tadgh DeBurca. Two cruciates and an Achilles tendon. Came back and looked like he never missed a game.

Only 1 for Limerick? Nicky? How do you account for Hayes being nominated for HOTY so? This was Hayes' best year yet for Limerick. He'd a quite semi-final coz Cork were smart enough to keep the ball away from his side of the field. He was majestic in Munster though.

I think the All stars will be:
Quaid
Leen Downey Hogan
McInerney Conlon Hayes
Kenny Fitzgibbon
Fitzgerald Barrett Harnedy
Rogers SOD B. Hayes
Now with my Clare glasses on I would definitely have Cleary fullback. A case could also be made for Diarmuid Ryan but Hayes was in hurler of the year form up to the semi and Cork did everything they could to avoid him and nulify his impact in the semi. Aidan McCarthy likely to miss out but his contribution in us winning 2 National Championships was outstanding. He was superb in League semi final, Superb in the leage final (thought he was MOM with 2-10 (2-1 from play), superb in All Ireland semi outshooting TJ on the frees and scored another 1-3 from play in the final.
Its a tough job to pick the best 15 though.

While I think Cleary is a fine hurler, with the movement and the hurling ability to be very capable of playing in the half back line or even further up if required. The role he plays for Clare is to stifle the opposition forwards by pulling, dragging and bundling them up. While its a crucial role for the team, its not pretty, and is unlikely to win him an Allstar.
Of all the players on the Clare Panel I always feel he really is "taking one for the team" and sacrificing his own game to fill a role for the overall benefit of the team.

I hear what you are saying but the primary role of a fullback is to protect the goals and prevent the full forward from scoring. he didn that much more successfully than Eoin Downey this year.
