How is it rushed through? This year took a heap of games just to get the last 16 down to a last 12.

Well the Final is 6/7 weeks earlier hence there is no time for replays… that all equates to a rushed championship or is that too difficult for you to work out…?

If they got rid of half the pointless games before the finals there would be plenty of time for replays. It's not rocket science. Even a lad like you who apparently has learning difficulties should be able to grasp that one. The problem isn't when the final is. It's the fact there are too many games before it.

A problem with the Overtime Showdown is advantage of the elements. Team A could have advantage of a gale force wind for the opening score. Their opponent then left with a wind tunnel to try and claw back the score! legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9187 - 21/09/2024 15:02:38 2571166 Link 0 |
I agree with you about the pointless games but enough of clowns on here seem to think it's the right thing… As you say get rid of them and there would be plenty of time for replays… but I still think the Final is on too early

The Overtime Showdown proposal has been abandoned for the reason you've given and the fact that it seems it took so long to conclude when they trialled it. Your suggestion of kicks from the arc would be like it is in the LGFA. I don't think they are too exciting. But there must be a better way than penalties. No matter what gap is left between matches to allow replays, there also are bound to be situations arising where teams cannot be separated - I don't think it's likely you're ever going to have a 4-game series as in 1991 with Dublin and Meath, where any amount of replays could happen. So even if you have a single replay what do you do when the teams are still equal at the end. Perhaps some variation of the timed shoot-out competition, used in hockey or as was originally used in American soccer, could be trialled? Say a forward, a defender and a goalkeeper with the forward given a fixed time to advance and score. CeachtPeile (Cavan) - Posts: 171 - 22/10/2024 15:18:52 2576383 Link 0 |

The ice hockey shoot out is the only solution No defender, forward one on one with keeper tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1600 - 22/10/2024 18:26:44 2576428 Link 0 |
