Replying To leitrim4sam:  "Leitrim v Donegal 2007 qualifiers.

Back in the Dessie Dolan Senior era in Leitrim we didn't win much but were extremely hard to beat. A time marked by last gasp winners by the opposition and hard luck stories but great memories.

Mayo beat us by 1 point in Connacht Championship where we chased down a 6 point lead they had built up. Ollie Murphy threw over a last gasp point from the sideline for Meath to force extra time which they duly won. Roscommon scored a last gasp goal to beat us by 1 point in a qualifier. But the best one:

Donegal 2007, Michael Murphy's debut. Out corner forward James Glancy scored a spectacular 77th minute volley to force extra time. Alan Shearer never scored a finer one. Carrick erupted. For a county of such limited resources (four times as many people in the football grounds than in the rest of Carrick, our biggest town, at the time for example) we absolutely were ecstatic.

It's not like others here remembering winning trophy's but that moment will always live in my memory

I was in the shed for that Donegal game and it seemed like no one saw that goal go in. There was a delayed reaction to it from what I remember. Lovely warm evening.

One game il never forget as a Roscommon man was 2003 Vs Kildare because of Frankie Dolans performance that day with 13 points from ridiculous parts of the pitch.

As a Sligo man who wasn't old enough to remember a lot of our success in the noughties one of the best days was when we beat Roscommon in Markievicz Park in 2015. To beat a Roscommon team who was just promoted to Division was probably the shock of the year too

Most pulsating game I ever attended was in Croke Park. All Ireland semi final 2005 Armagh versus Tyrone.

As a Wicklow man, we haven't had many games that live long in the memory. The best involving Wicklow for me, has to be when we beat Laois in Aughrim in the Leinster when Laois were being tagged with greatness. My best memory was being in the centre of the Offaly supporters behind the Canal end goal the day Offaly put paid to Kerry's 5 in a row dream. Talk about "electric". That was truly unforgettable. When Darby scored that goal, we must have slipped down 20 steps or more in a surge. No health and safety in those days. .

Was at the game. Murphy scored a goal from what I remember. Back in the days when the qualifiers and Saturday evening games were still a bit of a novelty.

I was at the 1982 football final. I don't think I need to explain why to this day, I still consider it to be the greatest sporting event that I've ever attended, and I've been to many different types of sports over the years. Even Hans Christian Andersen nor the Brothers Grimm couldn't have written the script for that. It was a true fairytale in reality!

Do you remember the game vs Kildare in the first year of qualifiers, 2001? A lovely warm Saturday evening and a real ding dong battle that we unfortunately lost out in.

Think it was Tony Boyle and Noel Hegarty's last ever appearances for Donegal.

Scotstown v Crossmaglen Ulster final a few years ago. Proper blood and thunder football. James Morgan and Darren Hughes absolutely thumped each other around the field and up into the last 5 mins the ref was brilliant at letting it go. Hughes got a soft red and had a go at the ref but before he walked off him and Morgan met and shook hands. Fantastic occasion full of jeopardy with some great scores in terrible conditions and at the end nothing but respect between the teams.

Drawn Leinster final between Wexford and Kilkenny and the replay matched the first game. Forget the years. It was where I heard the Wexford lads accusing the Kilkenny lads of peeing on the ammo in "98 rather than fight. Some banter but all in good spirit."
Munster Final 2004.Flynn iconic free unforgettable.

By stating a fact? Surely a match with consequences merits inclusion. Pressure makes players rise to the challenge or wilt, game mentioned had zero pressure. Don't be overly sensitive

I know what you're saying Claretandblue, that big players turn up for the big knockout games and this wasn't one. Maybe the lack of pressure added to the quality of that game though. I stayed on for that game, we played Meath in the game before it. It was great game regardless of what was at stake.

Tipperary v Cork Munster Final Replay 1991. As memorable for the pitch invasions as for the hurling!!!!

Most memorable game I was at was the last Meath Dublin game in 1991,
Best game of football I was at was the middle Meath Kildare game 1997.
I went to 2 Tipperary Kilkenny hurling finals in the
2010s, I wasn't at the 2014 drawn game which some say was the best game ever but I was at the replay which was the best game I personally was ever at, high standard, close and hard hitting.
For me that Kilkenny Tipperary rivalary around that time was the highest point hurling has reached.

Galway v Kildare 1998 AI final. A second half performance from Galway for the purists. Just brilliant craic with friends and family, and ending a 32-year drought after the three in a row team of the 60s. So many special memories. Yes, a maroon and white tinged bias here but of any match of any code anywhere in the world that I attended, this topped the lot for me.

I've watched it back on YouTube many a day. Probably not the best game but unbelievable comeback
