Big difference to beginning of year. Limerick were strongly fancied whilst the rest were assumed to fight it out for second place. What happened? How can the bookies get it so wrong? At one point in the season Cork were 50/1… What a revival by the Rebels and what a tumble for the Treaty! Any chance the GAA could reinstate Sept finals… season is too short.

Tom, StoreysTash in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia here. Now, one important point to make to you. The only thing that matters is Clare are #1, and everybody else is #2. They picked up the cup, and everybody else is left to lick their wounds until next year. StoreysTash (Wexford) - Posts: 1785 - 24/07/2024 10:18:04 2561142 Link 0 |
When would you play the club championships then?

There was nothing between Limerick, Clare and Cork this season just the points at which they peaked was key. Limerick scraped through Munster last season so wanted to avoid this scenario this season so peaked at Munster Final. Cork peaked at the AI Semi Final and Clare peaked in the Final. The 6 in a row Munster Championships was also a big target for Limerick but the All Ireland was a bridge too far. Munster is going to be a bear pit next year. Clare, Cork and Limerick will be favorites to come out but anything is possible. Waterford likely to get a new manager bounce and Tipp may see some of talent from recent underage success come through. journeyman (Limerick) - Posts: 141 - 24/07/2024 11:51:47 2561185 Link 0 |

Waterford will definitely have a bounce with a new manager & Aussie coming back Tipp will be lot better too. I think Limerick wont be too focused on the Munster Final all it would do is create pressure 7 in a row and all that, but i suppose you have to try and win as many matches as possible nobody does any favours. Limerick will be in great health just a few tweaks maybe Deccies role at centre back might be at an end unlike most teams they have several options in the back all seem interchangeable, Cork are already at top table and loads of underage talent. its definitely a bear pit you need win home matches minimum I am already missing the buzz clooney (Clare) - Posts: 960 - 24/07/2024 12:21:42 2561200 Link 0 |

Just out of interest why do you have Tipp and Waterford ahead of ourselves and yourselves? I'd probably have Cork and Kilkenny 3rd equal also. Antrim ahead of Offaly too.

Tipp beat us in the league, and I suspect would have beaten us in championship '24 too, if they got the opportunity. Waterford beat Cork, drew with Tipp and almost drew with Clare. I don't think Wexford or Galway could have pulled off that run of results in championship '24 form.

You might need to bear in mind that Dublin last beat Tipperary at championship hurling in 1917.

If you backed them each way at 1/5 odds you would have won 50 euros at a fiver each way. And got a fiver stake back. So 55.

Tipp didn't beat anyone in championship this year, and apart from the draw with Waterford, the other county we are discussing, got fair beatings off everyone as well. While our form was patchy, we did beat yourselves, and poor refereeing had a hand in us not beating Dublin and Kilkenny. Agree Waterford were probably better than us both on reflection, but there's no knowing what they will be like next year.
