I think the Rapps could be an example of the flaw with this format - heavy beatings this week and last and I can't really see them beating the Martins or Shels on paper and would definitely give the Harriers a chance vs them, yet at the same time I wouldn't put it past them being in the last 4? Oylegate management and supporters definitely not too happy with some of his decisions but Harriers were the better team overall and deserved to win. Chin's final two points as good scores as you'll see.

Harriers deserved the win. But the refereeing decisions, particularly in the first half?

Oylegate probably on the wrong side of free count but didn't think there were any game changing decisions made. Penalty miss by seamus casey affected the outcome more than the referee. Enjoyable game though

I agree with that assessment. I suppose you leave yourself open to criticism when your a work colleague of members of one the management teams.

Can't understand why they put Ferns-Gorey in Wexford Park at 6PM on a Sunday evening, surely 6PM or even 7PM in Monamolin would have made more sense? ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 342 - 14/07/2024 21:55:57 2559125 Link 0 |
Hard to know where teams are at after 2 rounds. Was away for the weekend so didn't see any match. Yellowhelmet (Australia) - Posts: 115 - 14/07/2024 22:19:27 2559137 Link 0 |
Monamolin had a double-header of intermediate hurling at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. today. Would have been a push to put a senior match there at 6 or 7 p.m. this evening as well. If you're from the sort of club that regularly has to host matches, you'll know the sort of imposition and responsibilities that come with having to do so. You couldn't ask a club to host three matches on the same day. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2503 - 14/07/2024 22:27:00 2559141 Link 0 |
What makes no sense is playing St Martin's v Shels in Bellefield and Ferns v Gorey in Wexford park. Surely crowds would have been better at both games if the venues were swapped

Fair enough but was there really a need to play the match in Wexford Park?

Are nt dressing room closed in wexfird park and u can choose nit to play there if you want dressing rooms . Think thst is the case or so I heard . So maybe clubs decided not to play there . Formertownie (Wexford) - Posts: 282 - 15/07/2024 08:28:11 2559184 Link 0 |
100% agree. They nearly had to pass eachother by.

Playing oylegate v Harriers in New Ross made no sense either

Probably had to be in Ross or Enniscorthy on account of potential attendance?

Any stand out performances over the weekend? Afinestick96 (Wexford) - Posts: 345 - 15/07/2024 11:11:53 2559241 Link 0 |
Don't know about any standout performances but the final score in the Martins v Shels match did make we look twice, more like a junior B score than senior. Seems like the Ferns v Naomh Eanna game was the only high quality fare judging by match reports.

I thought the Shels Martins was a half time score myself sounded very poor

Yeah that is true but I can't often make my own clubs matches matches let alone a few matches I would have a passing interest in and would say many are in that same boat. I just don't have time to drive from Wexford Park to Buffers Alley to New Ross. Having said that, I would pay €15-20 if I could sit down and turn on any of 3-4 matches over a weekend so I think there is something there to be looked at. Don't know enough techy stuff about restricting devices though. People find way around everything. ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1252 - 15/07/2024 17:25:27 2559360 Link 0 |
