I'd bet good money that if he used the same tactic to help perpetuate a negative stereotype about the community, some of whose people are setting parts of Leeds ablaze, Lockjaw would dismiss it as gutter journalism."
I'm not sure of the background of that post between yourself and Lockjaw, but it does seem to be swaying a bit off topic. There have been countless incidents on this island like the ones in Leeds but I don't see foreign police being drafted from everywhere to deal with Irish football fans when they travel. If you don't like the isolated examples from the Athletic in Benidorm, there are plenty more larger scale incidents with England fans down the years that can be highlighted.

Eh what? I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. I am not familiar with the backstory as to what is going on in Leeds. Seems to be a community backlash against a decision to take children into care?

I'm talking about little Englanders abroad attending/watching football matches who can't behave themselves.

A question for you - if Ireland were playing England at a major competition (as fantastical as it sounds) would you feel safe wearing an Ireland jersey in bar full of prominently English supporters? You might say that it would be asking for trouble to do so. But why should it? Lets say it's some bar in Majorca. You've paid the same money to get there as anyone else so why shouldn't you be able to watch a game in a bar in safety.

What happened in Leeds is about as relevant as Coolock when talking about the decades long history and amazing consistency of English football fan violence. No other country in Europe to my knowledge has had its clubs banned for a significant length of time from competitions for extremely violent behaviour (culminating in the killing of dozens of Juventus supporters after years of disorderly conduct). Nearly every international tournament they play in there has been a history of violence. Even the final they hosted in the last Euros they wrecked the place around Wembley, that was in 2021 not 1981. Possibly the only set of fans who ripped apart Lansdowne Road and attacked Irish fans, in a game that wasn't even a competitive fixture. As Lockjaw says, I don't think too many would dare wear a green jersey anywhere near a group of English supporters at a soccer tournament.

I haven't tied myself up in knots, I've been consistent on this topic,, and I haven't tried to prove how morally superior I am, I'm pointing out what I see as a contradiction.
Pointing out contradictions and flaws in the positions you disagree with, and making your own arguments, are the whole point of these forums.

In replying to this post, would you please acknowledge your mistake and admit that I never said "all" ABE's hate their own culture."
Nope.
