Honestly, I really don't wish to be "complicated".

As a fourth consideration, total pts only (your e.g. 93) works.

The reason for breaking out goals would be to preserve tradition. With each Arc worth 66% of a goal, they are significant too - so, I'd suggest, we break out both or neither.

As for one-pointers, breaking out all three scoring types along with total pts is a bit much.

So, I rank my preferences as:
GAT
GP (i.e. current P, incl A)
GAPT
T

Upon further reflection, would a 3.5-1.5-1 (7-3-2) scale be ideal, rounded down (or up), if we can't have decimals.

The handpassing count was still high in Round 6. 394 on average. Need more detail though. What are the zones of all that handpassing? A team can go forward at pace with handpassing. The lateral handpassing going nowhere is the problem.

That's an interesting stat - what's your solution - hand passes must go forward?

I'd like - must kick from zone with most hand passes.

The FRC seem to be of the belief that the rule changes will encourage more kick passing. Kerry and Dublin utilised kick passing last weekend. Been a lot of rule changes obviously. The next few weeks should reveal more on if more teams are encouraged to utilise kick passing.

The one thing I'd hope for is that as passing excessively through the hands zaps more energy under the new rules, teams would use more kick passing as a means of preserving that energy.

If the new rules result in a better spectacle then the objective will be achieved. I for one won't be obsessing regarding stats about kick and hand pass ratios.
So if the spectacle is better no solution to the number of handpasses needed

Can anyone say that the football we have seen since the "tweaks" is inferior to last years football?

The Mayo Donegal match on Sunday had most of what a football match should have.
Long range scores, goals, high fielding, some short kickouts going wrong, a few balls kicked into the ff line (by two historically running teams). No pulling and dragging, no delaying frees etc.

There is a lot to like about the game now.

I thought that they should have let the keeper roam, but to be fair, it better now that you dont have every keeper in the country running up the pitch and the forwards handpassing around waiting for him to drag his ass up the field.

The Junior keeper can go back to drinking pints and standing in goal without having to run 15km per match.

Pints can be tough to manage - but have definitely seen lads using cans

After an Advanced Mark, the team gets BOTH 'bites of the cherry' - i.e. ALWAYS come back for the Mark, regardless of whether the initial advantage resulted in a score or not.

Potentially then, the Mark could result in a four-pts play ( goal & point) or two one-pointers.

That definitly wont fly, most people dont even want the mark we have. Why not award 4 points for catching. No need to kick it afterwards.

The pre-FRC Advanced Mark was a joke - just catch the ball waist high from a short kick.
I don't hear the same complaints with the new version, apart from it being rarely used.

In lieu of a 4-pts goal, my suggestion could be a better alternative to award the 4 pts.

Do you want higher execution, or would you just prefer to scrap the Advanced Mark?

I despise the rule of handing back the ball.Yes just leave it on the ground and if you kick it away penalise the team but the handing back of the ball is inane.

In the Cork /Kerry game,Joe O Connor was done for overycarrying and then as he tied to hand back the ball a Cork player knocked the ball out of his hand so he was penalised 50m.
That is wrong.
Same thing happened to Matthew Ruane in league v Kerry.

Agree 100% Mick.. This has to be the stupidest rule ever to be introduced.. I don't like the 2 point arc either as apart from your own county Kerry no team seems to want to bother trying to create a goal scoring opportunity… This rule has backfired badly as all it does is create inflated hurling like score lines for teams even though they are beaten out the gate.. Keeping 3/4 players up was enough to insure a more attacking type game than this arc nonsense and increasing the score values… Attendance figures alone suggest that people are not buying into all these ridiculous new rules…
