Munster Hurling Championship 2024

Replying To Canuck:  "I honestly don't know how Waterford will do but "haven't a hope " is pretty degrading. Waterford largest defeat with half a team in the league was three points and nine in total over five games. Kilkenny the All-Ireland and league finalist was a bizzar one because it should have been won. I am not a Davy fan and that makes me skeptical but the players are playing for Waterford. The injured players and how many come back being match ready is difficult. Someone will be eating humble pie before the Munster Championship is over. Look out Banner for those no hopers."
I honestly would not begrudge Waterford if they won the All Ireland any you are right there are some serious hurlers to return from injury in only he let them hurl off the cuff a bit not keeping one of the best forwards in the game in Dessie close to goal is scandalous how on earth does he get away with it , bit is suppose when he was with Clare in 2014 and he tore up slip for Domhaill O Donovan after Jack Browne was carded who then got a second yellow and we were down to 13 says a lot about Davy.

Good Luck for year ahead it will be a huge effort and achievement to get out of Munster for all the teams I definitely could not call them we have had a good year so far but that counts for little now

Well Clooney You seem to have a fine team at the moment, with hugely impressive young players like Hogan and Rodgers coming through and experienced players like Conan DMc, Tk and SOD all performing well. There is definitely an All Ireland or even more in them.

We are certainly not underestimating Waterford here on Leeside, and as I've already pointed out, I'm dreading this game. Waterford can beat anyone in Munster on their day, and while your record in the round robin to date is not great, I still think you have a great chance against us.

What is latest with Waterford injuries, etc? and what is the talk down there as Sunday week approaches?

Agree totally and this "we lost our shape" is not short of annoying rhetoric or lack of nothing else to say.

Another annoying habit we have while complaining about attendance. No updates and the team will be announced late on Friday night before the game. Actually if we play a Saturday match it is still the same.

Most modern intercounty teams keep a very closed shop these days. In fairness I always think its a good sign when there is no news leaked from Intercounty Panels in advance. If fellas weren't happy or if there was discontent somebody complaining or ******** would leak something to somebody.

I'm surprised to read there's a poor interest in tickets for the Cork match. Waterford always had a decent hardcore following and the fact that they are at home after having to travel last year is more surprising. I hope the Waterford fans that do show up next Sunday will continue to be looked after when Waterford's fortunes turn and the bandwagon brigade return in their droves.

Replying To bloodandbandage:  "I'm absolutely dreading the first game in Walsh Park. I just have a bad feeling about it, and as many have already mentioned, Waterford will take a scalp, and I'd imagine they are targeting Cork at home. If we get through that game, I fancy us to win one of our two home matches in front of a packed PUC (only a hand full of terrace tickets left for both games), which hopefully, should see us through.
Let the roller coaster ride begin.."
I was just wondering what is the story on Robbie O Flynn and Mark Coleman. Are they fit for the Munster Championship?

Cork are Limericks biggest threat IMO

I know Coleman is available but I don't think they'll start him (Half back line of Mellerick, Downey and Joyce finished the league very well). Not sure on Robbie. Very hush hush here at the moment..

Thanks Bloodandbandage. I think these 2 lads are vital to Cork. They were badly missed last year

Aaron Connolly has the potential to be a superstar. Excited to see how he goes injury free.

I'm afraid I don't share your confidence as regards Cork, we will be in battle for 3rd place.

Clare have proven they can go into the trenches with Limerick & meet the Treaty Men head on.

I expect Limerick & Clare to meet 3 times in this championship season.

Derek Mcgrath said that about Waterford a couple years ago......

Cork's issue I think is their full-back line. For all their bravery, manliness, and 'lifting the crowd' coming out with the ball neither Cahalane nor O'Donahue are tight markers. They lack the craft of full-back line marking. And with Cork in the past, it must have been demoralizing to see their captain on the day, O'Donahue being stripped of possession on his way out, and scores ensuing on their way in!

But Cork are getting there, make no mistake about that!

Fair obversation, but I think Clare really are in a strong position provide Limerick their most difficult examination in 2024.

Listening to Dalos podcast this morning always enjoyable. Dalo has predicted Limerick to not make the 3 and TJ has predicted clare not to make the 3. Sunday will be big.

Listened to it myself before it went behind the paywall but wouldn't be worth paying the examiner subscription for it, to much pub and horse talk for me.

Our Game is my favourite podcast to listen too, enjoy Independent throw in show with Eddie Brennan and Mullane too and Off the Ball's hurling pod, few of the local podcasts can be decent too.

Ah no worries. Just as an update, I see both are fit and available for selection, which is good news. They were both a huge loss last year, and I'd also add Connolly into that. Great to have them all back. How are Limerick on the injury front?
