But the bigger issue is how you've only got four months (July/Aug/Sept/Oct) for inter-county. Basically, you're just pushing the current inter-county championship window back by three months, from April-July to July-October.

No National Leagues, or else a very condensed version of both League & Championship?

And either way, not much time for inter-county managers to have their sides ready to go in early July, after club county finals are played towards the end of June?"
I do think Inter county needs to be reduced down. For everyone's sake.

There's too many low impact games and it's hurting club football and inter county football in my opinion. Fewer games but have them more meaningful would be a big win.

Playing club in parallel with intercounty would be more time efficient than a split season."
With all due respect, you're doing what often happens in these type of discussions - i.e. talking in broad strokes, but without any specifics.

For example, given that you're only allowing a four-month inter-county window, what do you mean by "fewer games but have them more meaningful"?

Do away with the National Leagues and run championship only, because championship is more meaningful?

Or keep some form of the Leagues and revert to a straight knock-out championship, so that every championship game is as meaningful as can be?"]That's a fair criticism.

I didn't really flesh this particular idea out because I don't really like it.

But a championship based on 2 groups of 8 per tier with 6 teams going through to the knockout rounds could be played in 15 weeks with breaks.

10 for the group stage. 5 for the knockout stages.

Just saw a picture of JB acting as linesman in an Armagh club match this weekend.

He really is a top top man.

The guy is everywhere and a real GAA man - not matter what the level he is involved at.

He didn't like Declan Hannon thanking their back room staff of 53 all the same…?

Great seeing him hugging his son after the win over kerry today in Croker.

Great celebrations.

But the job for Armagh is not fully done yet.
As their players and management were signalling after the match - 1 more game...!

Can Jarlath break his duck and finally present an Armagh team a cup in the 5th final involving Armagh?

It's All over twitter now about his speech. Philly McMahon praising him. I really wish we could just stick to sports and stay away from the politics.

Yes I agree - the speech was class until that point.

He needs to keep politics out of it.

What politics are people particularly referring to? I didn't hear anything controversial. He's an absolutely brilliant President. I don't agree with everything he says or does but he has the interests of the Association and Gaels in his heart and mind at all times.

Maybe for people of a certain political view like members of otb who are loving this or the Irish suns Kieran Cunningham. He is only in the job a couple weeks and needs to stop making the GAA so political. This is his fourth time using his position for his own political views. It needs to stop

Talking about the diaspora that left this country is literally the story of this country, how is that political?

It's literally the same thing Marty Morrisey talks about before each final mentioning people rom Al, over the world.

Great spec by Jarlath, fair play to him.

Agreed, if he wants to go into politics then off with him.

Thank the teams and the officials and hand the cup over to the winning captain and don't make it about himself.

Great speech.

And a not so subtle dig at those right wing, racist, conspiracy theory loving, loyalists running about Coolock.

Phenomenal speech, I got emotional when he talked about the diaspora and thought about ending up living in Wexford.
(Joking before my Wexican neighbours take a hump, I love living amongst you)

Agree 100%. So called patriots whose only "achievement" is being born here. The irony is most of them are too thick to get the dig.
A great speech. His presidency couldn't come at a better time.

But you are missing the point. He should not be bringing politics into the GAA like this. What if he started saying right wing stuff? The GAA should not be used as a stepping stone to get into government.
