senior hurling champonship badly needs some proper jeoprady. needs to be reduced to 8 teams , 2 groups of 4 top 2 into semi finals and bottom teams in each group in relegation final. 3 group games at the least for everyone most clubs would get 4 games bar the team that finishes 3rd. why is their a need to drag it out, you can lose 3 chamioship games and still win the championship, madness. a lot of people wont bother with going to games til quater finals in september.

Replying To MeathHurler2023: "Great to see the Meath Hurling Championships starting next week. Here are my predictions. Intersetd to see who agrees or disagrees with the below.
Senior Hurling Championship Group A Clann na nGael vs Kilmessan: this should be a close match. Kilmessan looking good in the league and swept Clann na nGael aside last weekend. I expect more of the same, but with margin not as big. Kilmessan by 7 Dunderry vs Dunboyne: again, this will be a close match. If Dunderry play to the level they bare capable of, they could pose Dunboyne plenty of problems. But they can be very hot or very cold. I expect Dunboyne to reverse the league defeat here. Dunboyne by 5 Kildalkey vs Trim: is this the eventual final? I would not read anything into the last league game where Kildalkey won by 14 points. This will be championship hurling at the highest level. Very hard to call but going to give Kildalkey the win here. Kildalkey by 2 Group B Ratoath vs Kiltale: big game in Group B. Fresh of winning the Division 1 League, Kiltale will be flying. The result will depend in large parts as to what Ratoath team turns up. But I think Kiltale take this one. Kiltale by 5 Blackhall Gaels vs Longwood: Should be an entertaining game. Blackhall played some great hurling last year to make the quarter final and win Group B. A poor league campaign but seemed to finish strong with some wins. Longwood just lost the League 3 Final to Kilskyre so playing some good hurling, but not sure they will be at the same level as Blackhall. Blackhall by 5 Killyon vs Na Fianna: two very evenly matched teams, although Killyon seemed to have shipped some huge defeats in Division 1 and were relegated after just coming up last year. Na Fianna got some good wins in the league over Kildalkey, Clann na nGael and beat Killyon easily also. But they seem to have lost there way over the second half of the league campaigns, losing 4 in a row. But still feel they are too strong for Killyon. Na Fianna by 6.
Intermediate Hurling Championship Group A Wolfe Tones vs Drumree: Should be an easy start for Drumree. Drumree by 10+ Dunboyne vs Gaeil Colmcille: Hard to call. Dunboyne by 3 Navan O'Mahonys vs Donaghmore/Ashbourne: Navan are dark horses for the Intermediate and with the easier Group, they should do well. Navan by 10. Group B Rathmoylon vs St. Pats: I fear for St. Pats this year. Rathmoylon by 15+ Trim vs Boardsmill: All depends on who Trim have available. Boardsmill look at sea this year and were relegated from Division2 after some heavy defeats. Trim by 6 Kildalkey vs Kilskyre/Moylagh: The game of round 1 in the Intermediate championship. Kilskyre on a high after winning Division 3 and Kildalkey second team won Division 2, beating a good Dunboyne team. The winner here will set early claim to be favourites for winning outright. Kildalkey just look so good, and this team would compete well at Senior. Again, just depends on who they have available to them once players play for the Senior team. Kildalkey by 3." Have Kildalkey done their friends in Killyon a favor by winning Div2 this year, Killyon now wont be relegated??

Senior Hurling Championship Group A Clann na nGael vs Kilmessan: these met last year and Clann na Gael had Kilmessan's measure. Both look to have gone ok in the league this year. This game is likely to decide who finishes 3rd in the group - Kilmessan to win by 3.
Dunderry vs Dunboyne: Dunderry were very competitve last year and had some games within their grasp but managed to lose them. Dunboyne still good enough to get over this one. Dunboyne by 4.
Kildalkey vs Trim: Hard to call and will be a close affair. Shouldn't have much impact on final standing, win or lose as both will easily qualify. Trim by 3
Group B Ratoath vs Kiltale: Kiltale are hitting form. Ratoath had a miserable league campaign but losing here won't hurt them in the long run with regards to qualification. Kiltale by 7.
Blackhall Gaels vs Longwood: Longwood always seem to pull together for championship but operating at div 3 cannot have helped them. Blackhall should be good enough. Blackhall by 10.
Killyon vs Na Fianna: Killyon have been poor in the league shipping some huge scores recently. They will need a big bounceback. Na Fianna have some bright young talent and have enough here. Na Fianna by 8

SHC Group A
Clann na nGael vs Kilmessan: Both had solid enough campaigns in the league and shouldn't really have anything to fear against each other. Tight one, going for Kilmessan by 2 but wouldn't be surprised with any other result.
Dunderry vs Dunboyne: Going with Peters here, just think they've enough quality to outshoot Dunderry. Dunboyne by 5.
Kildalkey vs Trim: Will there be a response from Nick Fitz to Kildalkey missing out on the Div 1 final? Possibly. Will it matter? I don't think so. Trim by two in a cracker.
Group B
Ratoath vs Kiltale: Based off how they've played so far this year, Kiltale seem to be cooking nicely. Think Ratoath will stick with them for a good chunk of the game but fall off towards the end. Kiltale by 6.
Blackhall Gaels vs Longwood: As said above, I think even though they reached a final, Division 3 will have hurt Longwood in terms of competition. Blackhall by seven
Killyon vs Na Fianna: Word around the place is Na Fianna have a serious amount of younger lads who have come through both last season and this season and are being thrown in straight away. Na Fianna by 8.
IHC Group A
Wolfe Tones vs Drumree: Tones again all over the road in the league so can't really predict which version of them you'll get on the day. Even still, Drumree by 7 Dunboyne vs Gaeil Colmcille: I'll always lean towards a club's first team over seconds. Dunboyne were saved last season by Kilmessan's concessions. Kells by 8 Navan O'Mahonys vs Donaghmore/Ashbourne: On paper and on form, this should be easy enough for NOM. Don/Ash gave them a real rattle in semi final last year but losing to Pats in the league is a massive red flag. NOM by 6.
Group B
Rathmoylon vs St. Pats: The reason the Don/Ash defeat was a red flag? Because Pats are not good enough for this level yet. Rathmolyon put 40 on them in the league. It won't be that bad here, but it might not be too far off. Rathmolyon by 22 Trim vs Boardsmill: A couple of questions surrounding Boardsmill, there seems to be a couple of problems internally. Trim by 3 Kildalkey vs Kilskyre/Moylagh: Another repeat from the semi finals last year but I think we get a reversal of the result. K/M seemed to put more focus on Div 3 than they have in recent years and got their reward. Kildalkey again with huge power in the panel but may not be able to use all of them depending on who lines out in the SHC game. Kilskyre by the minimum in the game of the weekend and possibly a preview of the IHC final.

Kilskyre by the minimum in the game of the weekend and possibly a preview of the IHC final." Clann na nGael vs Kilmessan: Kilmessan Improving year on year, They've gone up a gear again this year round up to date and if they can bring it into championship they will be top 4. CnG still a solid team at this level but come up short here. Kilmessan by 6 Dunderry vs Dunboyne: Neither team impressing overly much, Dunderry will feel the loss of Luke Martyn and Connor Dempsey this year and likely to be in the bottom 2, Dunboyne just to have a little bit extra here, Quigley being the difference. Dunboyne by 4 Kildalkey vs Trim: Kildalkey back to full strength again in recent weeks and it showed in the meeting in the last round of the league. Trim missing some big players this year that have been part of the success in recent years. The gap wont be as big in the championship meeting but still. Kildalkey by 5
Ratoath vs Kiltale: Do Kiltale have their hunger back? Possibly! Hard to know what Ratoath will show up but it usually is a more determined side compared to their league team. Durnin will have a big say on the result with a goal threat. Kiltale by 3 Blackhall Gaels vs Longwood: Longwood will be with dunderry in the bottom 2 this year. Not a whole lot between both these teams although. Whtty, Morris and Paul Kelly to get blackhall over the line here. Blackhall by 2 Killyon vs Na Fianna: Killyon not in a good place, no sign of Gannon, Smullen, Kelly and Mullen up to now, big losses. Na Fianna will have to much hurling for them with youth prevailing. Na Fianna by 10
Wolfe Tones vs Drumree: Tones can be a problem on a tight pitch, they have big men across the pitch. Drumree will need to be at their best because consistency is a problem. Josh Wall and david Reilly need to be flying. Drumree by 7 Dunboyne vs Gaeil Colmcille: Dunboyne were very poor last year and will side with the first team here, If kells are taking hurling anyways serious it should be simple enough here. Kells by 9 Navan O'Mahonys vs Donaghmore/Ashbourne: Ashbourne are improving big time and will cause a lot of the "big" teams in intermediate problems. They beat Rathmolyon only a few weeks ago! Navan should be able to pull through but wont be easy. Ashbourne need to nullify Jack Walsh and Cormac Keyes to have a chance. Navan by 6
Rathmoylon vs St. Pats: Rathmolyan always have a strong league campaign and this year was no different. Sometimes I think they peak too early. Lost the last two league games are in a tough group here. Saying that, St.Pats nowhere near this level and will take a few beatings. Rathmolyan by 18 Trim vs Boardsmill: I think Trims 2nds will be left weak after the Seniors play saturday, Boardsmill are a championship team and never really mind too much about their league form. Boardsmill looked to me missing a crazy amount of players throughout the year with Injury etc. which I heard have all returned the past 2 weeks. I will side with them here, I think! Boardsmill by 7 Kildalkey vs Kilskyre/Moylagh: Kildaleys seconds look to be strong again this year and fair play to them because there was not much crossover of 1st and 2nd team players. Teams find it hard to get over the line against them and I think it will be the same again. Have I heard one of the Shines is injured too? Kilskyre will need to be full strength. Tie of the round in intermediate. Kildaalkey by 2

Championship up and running at last, thought Kiltale would get over Wednesday but obviously didn't, Kilmessan easy winners in the end, they are putting up some big scores and could trouble a few teams. Free takers having a field day so far,

Kilmessan could be the dark horses. Putting up big scores and finishing the opposition in the last 10 minutes of each half (when it matters). Other clubs will be having a close eye on them.

Yeah very impressive how they just completely punished CNG to close out both halves - kind of like Cork last weekend in the first 15 of second half, just didn't look like missing at all.

A good start to the Hurling Championship. Trim won well but Kildalkey should walk the remainder of their matches bar Kilmessan who also had a good start. Whilst not trying to down play how well both Dunderry and Killyon It would appear that both Dunboyne and Na Fianna have gone back a lot. Killyon were missing 5 or 6 starters from last years senior team and still managed to win by 6 0r 7 which will be a good boost. Dunboyne couldn't beat Kildalkeys 2nd team in the league final so that might be more of a reflection of how much they've gone back rather than dunderry improvment but Dunderry will be delighted with a win.
Again its hard to judge how bad or good Blackhall and Longwood.
One thing is for sure there is likely to be some almighty hammerings in the next round and the gap between teams will be visible for all. It will then be understood why there was a reason for a stronger and weaker groups in the past.

Kimessan let them back in it but regained composure to see CNG off. Interesting to see how they fare against the bigger teams. Longwood definitely surprised me with their result. Big beating for Blackhall and will need to show character to bounce back. Dunderry threatened those victories last year, while Dunboyne look like they have lost a few names this year. Big momentum swing for Dunderry going forward though. I didn't see the Killyon performance coming either, given their poor league form and the absence of of a few regulars. That was a really good win for them against a Na Fiann team with plenty young talent. Good win for Trim but the lack of jeopardy in these groups means it won't hurt Kildalkey at all. They will be aiming to be right for later in the competition surely. I doubt Kiltale will be too worried with a draw either, but for Ratoath is a big step forward given their mediocre league form, granted they would have been missing a load of their panel up to now.

no real magic on show, would agree the lack of jeopardy does effect games this time of year, no surprise with Trim winning but was surprising how easy it was, big result for killyon and longwood, no surprise with Dunboyne, kilmessan are vastly improved and will look to push on against kildlakey in next round, think the qtr/semi finals will end up with trim kiltale, kildalkey, ratoath, kilmessan and maybe longwood.

Would be nice to see the teams rather than just who scored. Usually I'd assume it's the clubs fault but it seems like most of the articles are like this.
