Poor call by Lane not to send off Sheehy. Dangerous tackle and the Glen player was taken off FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2824 - 07/01/2024 18:01:17 2518857 Link 2 |
Nowhere near a square ball, Walsh shot from out the field, players entitled to be in square then.

It was refreshing listening to the players and managers from both teams before and after the game. No cribbing about anything from last year or today's game. Glen said Crokes were the better team last year and Crokes said likewise today. There's a few on here who could learn a bit from them. It took the production crew 40 minutes until they realised they should cut to the camera angle behind the goal for attacking scenes. PattyONeill (Derry) - Posts: 246 - 07/01/2024 18:43:08 2518871 Link 0 |
So true , Tg4 have made a huge contribution to the development and popularity of the Club Championship/U - 20s /League games and LGFA over the past 20+ yrs. Prior to that RTE showed the occasional final before chipping in with a Saturday night game in very recent years. It wasn't a day for long range camera shots as the camera behind the goal couldn't show who won possession from a long kick out. A couple of extra sideline cameras to concentrate on the close up action might have helped. Curlew66 (Roscommon) - Posts: 577 - 07/01/2024 18:49:39 2518873 Link 2 |
great win for Glen and well deserved, first half cokes had very little intensity in the tackle which was the opposite to Glen looked really hungry and Mcfaul controlled the game and stood out all day. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 725 - 07/01/2024 19:05:01 2518876 Link 0 |
Arent All Ireland Semi Finals under the control of Croke Park not the Ulster Council?

Ulster GAA had nothing to do with match or weather.

Can anyone explain how the GAA appointed a Cork referee to travel the whole way up the country for the Glen/Crokes game when a Cork club was involved in the other semifinal…? Is there any joined up thinking at all within the GAA…? ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3027 - 07/01/2024 19:39:38 2518884 Link 0 |
Match played in farcical conditions, but it was the same for both sides and congratulations to Glen, they deserve their day in the sun, and not the fog! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8678 - 07/01/2024 19:42:50 2518885 Link 1 |
Conditions should have suited Kilmacud. There was no way to keep count of subs, could have been 21 or 22 of them on at end for all we know. At least the transfer window is open. HEREBENJI (Donegal) - Posts: 431 - 07/01/2024 19:43:06 2518887 Link 9 |
Fog ruined the game from a spectator point of view. I'm sure I wasn't alone that I needed to see a replay to view any of the scores. Glen for the majority of the game looked like the side that wanted and needed that win more and it will be serious boost to their confidence now and will be favourites for the final with most but Brigids with good forwards and solid defence will look to give a good account of themselves. It's very young team with 10 of today's starters aged 19 to 24 and facing up to the biggest game of their young careers in two weeks. What's your problem with a Cork referee. This is serious stuff. The best referees should be getting the big games. On the last weekend of January there will be referees moving all across the country to cover matches. You hardly expected a Leinster or Ulster referee to be there today, so that left the other 2 provinces and obviously a referee had to be picked from one of them. Stop grasping at straws and trying to make controversy.

Granted but it was all run by Ulster Gaa as it was an Ulster venue. They were all there inspecting before throw in.

Should not appoint a ref from a county with a club still involved in the competition… maybe that's away too complicated for you to work out…?

You are only showing disrespect to top officials by your daft comments. When Kerry play Dublin in the league, does that mean that no referee from the other 6 Div 1 counties can be considered because according to your warped mind they might be swayed.

Despite the production problems, it was another absorbing encounter in a rivalry that is only two games old, but was enough to attract maybe 15,000 on a January day in the freezing fog? BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 07/01/2024 23:16:36 2518930 Link 1 |
I agree that the best team on the day prevailed yesterday . Not sure if I fully agree with the statement re last years AI .. that one was much less clear cut in terms of who was the best team. I recall saying last year that the furore at the end did NOT devalue KCs success. But I suggest that yesterday's result probably does take some gloss from it when considered in conjunction with the controversy.
