Clubs don't want the hassle of handling tickets and cash. And the model last season was that club members were just issued with an email link to ticketmaster to purchase their tickets. I've even bought a season ticket at a club, really good value. Works out at 8 eur a game where you'd have to pay 20 eur in otherwise (if tickets available that is). Also generally good atmosphere. The GAA is away ahead in attendances. The GAA has a vast network of stadia and grounds in the country and leaves soccer well behind. Attendance figures for all league of Ireland clubs are on the rise over the last 3/4 years… Attendance figures for almost every county for football matches have dropped dramatically.. so there's your comparison… County football is now woeful to watch hence the huge drop in attendance figures.. Media reports said it was half empty (true). Same weekend a soccer game in Tolka park attracted a crowd of a 1,000; media reports stated a bumper crowd (true). The league of ireland is where it's at,, unless you're one of the actual players who are sitting by their phones every night praying for an English club, any english club, league one, two, it doesn't matter, to offer them a contract and rescue them from where they are now. I think attendances in football from the Ulster clubs are respectable in general. Derry, Tyrone and Donegal in particular. Mayo always can attract decent crowds, whilst Kerry supporters will always turn up for the final. Cork can get decent hurling attendances, but football turnout usually poor. Dublin footballers can always fill Croke Park, and a strong Dublin is a bonanza for GAA! League of Ireland in general isn't well supported, but rugby popularity for Leinster and Munster is growing ! Dublin lost 1 game between 2005 and 2023. In fact it's a wonder 35k would pay into it at all when there's not even a morsel of doubt as to the outcome. Back to Season tickets .... Anyone renewing it?
