A teenager with his first phone unfortunately." This is exactly what's wrong with Meath football. Some lads are trying to build a bit of excitement around what is a dark time of the year for many. The regionals seem to get an unfair amount of abuse from people in the county. You have to take a step back and look at the gems this wonderful competition has produced over the last couple of years - Micky Flood, young Dixon, Harkin, Curtis, Scully, Sean Brennan, Sean Raff, to name but a few.
It's time we started to see this as the building blocks for the year ahead. It also gives lads from smaller clubs, like the Mahoneys, the chance to play alongside some big names.
Regarding your comment about this being my first phone - it's not. I'm 47 and have had at least two phones in my time, and I don't care for the slagging. This forum is a safe space for people to voice their opinions without being judged. Online bullying is a real thing and often brings me to tears. Think before you type.

Could you give me your one to watch from each team. Young Devlin in goals for the mahneys is mine for the bracs. Then for the moyfenragh boys i think Mickey Burke from long wood is the eye catcher there. Anyways im off to Navan shopping centre you can finish the list hopefully.

Alot of the regionals seem to be made up of club stalwarts in their late 20's or 30's that have had opportunities before or were part of Meath panels before that just were not good enough. Competition should be U25's only. Was Rafferty not a Senior player for Na Fianna and in development squad before so it wasn't the regionals that identified him. Others mentioned no longer part of Meath Panel. The Club championships way more important to players and expect Meath Senior Management to be keeping main eye on Senior Championship only.

I see the Bracs struggling" Major changes in selection is needed to get lads buy into this competition. Jayus last year there was some great lads galloping around the field with great skill and then some lads coming on that couldnt even make the club first team panel and would struggle to get any team.
I heard plenty of lads talking the competition down because of this open invitation style selection. Managers should do their homework and bring over only the players they want to see.
I think BnB will go back to back too. They have big talent across all positions and alot are young lads who put in great preformances in the Championship but only if they can get them over in the first place.
Any managment news yet????

Evening Chaps,
With the club championship finally over its time for the main event. The Skoda Regional Championship brought to us by Brady's Skoda which is ironically located in Cavan haha.
Anyway, My Son and I are hugely excited for the championship this year he's even been begging me to buy a Skoda and to be honest I'm tempted.
He's stopped playing football with the Hoops to focus on the JCT in Blackrock college, he's made the panel and he's only in 2nd year (huge achievement).
Anyway, word in my local barber shop is that my beloved Ardbraccan have been busy in the transfer market once more and have brought in a number of players from Curraha.
It'll be interesting to see how they gel with the established team that has been there for a number of years now.
They should add good depth to the squad, not sure they'll make the starting 15 as we have a number of strong intermediate players on the panel but they'll certainly add much needed depth.
Anyway, first game is a tasty one against An Tuascairt, funnily thats who the Curraha chaps played with last year, they've really been thrown around but we're delighted to have them this year.
Should be a great game, Ill stall my usual optimism just to say its farcical that Dunganny is being used for the 2025 Brady's Skoda Regional Championship, should be played in appropriate venues. Hopefully this will be rectified in the later rounds.
Anyway, I'd love to go on but Ive to be up early to drop my Son to his JCT session in the morning down in Blackrock.

I see Niall Ronan is back as manager bru na boinne for the upcoming championship. The holders will be strong favourites I'd suspect. I've heard Ronan could be back in line to take over the Cilles for the coming season. Interesting re appointment if it happens

Dont think they will hold the title playing a side made up of majority junior b players. In all fairness they put in the work last night from both sides but a very silly foot block lost it for BNB.

Those same names I've heard associated with the Cilles have also been mentioned for the Duleek job too so it will be fascinating to see who ends up where. Any other clubs with new appointments?

NavanRoyal4Life" I have to agree with a lot of this!! The regionals are a great chance for some young lads to showcase their skills to the meath gaffer and for some other players who excelled in club to put their hand up!! There are a few lads from my home team of Dunsany who I am very much looking forward to seeing at this level!!
Otherwise, I would love to see a big support at the weekend, cheering on our men's senior football champions. I would like the atmosphere to be similar West hams last game in upton park as we say goodbye to so many strong memories as HQ goes under the knife in a coming weeks/Months
