I just wonder should every Province have a Bekan stle Airdome like the one that is over beside Knock in County Mayo.
Would it not be a great idea to have at least one in Ulster maybe two that all games could be played irrespective of the weather.
I am told that you can have 3500 spectators inside and sure it could be be beamed out Via Gaa Go.

Yes Tom I made this point on the Wexford page recently. The one in Mayo cost €2.1m.
I would go further and say it would be something every county should consider, forget about clubs having 3-4-5 pitches this in every county takes all the pressure off clubs to play championships in a rush, particularly football which is suited to these facilities.
It would be the best money the government ever spent on facilities in each county. Yes it costs €60m but think of the benefit to every county, and they could be municipal facilities shared with rugby and soccer to even further their benefit.

I don't believe it Tom, I'm in full agreement with you on this one. Though, you're not getting it in Monaghan. Seriously though, it's a no-brainer.

Why not take it to another level and play the matches on the XBox if weather is too bad.

Just look at all the positives that this could have.
I understand that the one over in Mayo is full length and one could play Hurly on it,
I am taul that the one in Mayo can seat 3500 people,

Just to pour cold water on that idea straight away.
FBD is played in the Dome plus a few challenge games. It has never been used for a league match and never will. The reason is simple. If one game in a competition is played in the Dome then every game in the competition must be played there . Sligo minor's played Roscommon minor's in Connacht final a few years ago. It was played in monsoon conditions outdoors with the dome lying empty. I know this won't stop Tom Smith coming back again and again with replies because that's what he does

Great idea. Every county town should be given either a metro or light rail system too, to get out to the Dome.

every county let alone province should have one with the massive profits the GAA are making, its talked up as being a massive construction but thats an Irish thing, no doubt they would be built for a quarter of the cost in oother countries

3,500 people. There would be more at a club championship match in most counties. It wouldn't suit your friends sport , hoofing Gary Owens into the air unless they opened the lid on it. Well so I'm taul.

3,500 people at a county final or semi final but not most club matches I would not have thought.
Its not going to suit every fixture, but it would sure help with the maligned fixtures in many counties, i.e. U21 in Wexford.

Another idea would be a few 4G pitches in every county. Like in Wexford there is a ground in Enniscorthy called Patrick's Park which gets loads of fixtures and is not owned by a club.
It could easy be made in to a 4G pitch and can hold a good crowd. If its a dry day these would be perfect for matches year round.

For once, I thought tomsmith had created a decent discussion point

I did say club championship. Tyrone championship, people from outside county drive to see them. Looking forward to it already.

Tyrone championship is so strong that none of the clubs have ever won an All Ireland club championship.

An O Neill's medal is top of a Tyrone players list, not All Ireland club medal. Many's a regret in Tyrone football but All Ireland club medal isn't one of them.

In ideal we would have best of everything, life isn't that simple,In Limerick alone we are a duel county that gives respect to both county championships,we barely have enough quality fields for senior, not to mention all the championships down, would be a total waste of money.

4/5G pitches are not the solution either, fine for underage training but not suitable for championship or proper matches, definitely not suitable for hurling especially.

It's very difficult to do cynical northern fouling and diving on the xbox
