What do you mean the only team that makes it competitive? There are 4 different winners in the last decade

Wexford are on the verge of being relegated to the second tier and Dublin haven't won Leinster or been anywhere close to winning Leinster for 10 years. Kilkenny have won the last 3 Leinster titles. You remove Galway from that, which is what the original poster is wishing with his very thickly veiled suggestions, and it could quickly become like the Leinster football championship with Kilkenny winning 10+

Why do you have to run off the provincial championships in full before an all ireland group stage in this set up. start all ireland earlier and have weeks off for knock out provincial championships. could break things up and interesting to see how teams cope with 2 competitions on thego.

save hurling from a Galway team in Leinster who probably hurled as poor in the first half as any team well beaten in the lower competitions all season..then they get a draw, and are in a "Leinster" final against a Kilkenny team who were beaten by a team everyone (bar myself from what I see) had almost consigned to JMD next year..system isnt broken if your in Munster and are more or less guaranteed Senior Championship next season and every season..Leinster is a bit like any branch of Dunnes Stores now..you can come in the front and walk straight through and out the back door and vice versa...my proposal if you did feel like reading the balances both provinces out the same, with more empahsis on the JMCD than it already even has...the system is not ok at it is...

Everyone in the ground knew we had to win a long time before 10 minutes before the end of the game. Antrim were cruising before the 2nd half even started in Wexford Park.

The provincial winners can have top seeding in the group stage. The second advantage of the provincial championships would be more competitive games before the All-Ireland group stage.

Counties will just rest players during the Provincials. It'd be the absolute worst thing for them.

In my eyes that'd be a fantastic season.

Good point. Still, it was good oul clock keeping :-) Glad Wexford stayed up. We can't beat any of the other "traditional" counties :-) BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3275 - 29/05/2023 15:06:56 2482615 Link 0 |
Didn't get relegated, Leinster Champions in 2019, beaten Kilkenny 4 times since 2017. Maybe go have a rethink of your post.

Concentrate on Galway, didn't exactly look world beaters in that game against Dublin. Westmeath had their chance yesterday, playing at home and 2 points up at half time. Wexford had to win regardless what time the game started.

Not sure what it is about us and you . Or Galway and you. It's only really Kilkenny you struggle badly against. That has to be psychological.

cannot really recall Kilkennny "hammering" anyone of the so called established teams this year or in recent years..back in the 2000's yes they did, but that does not last for every either (although it felt like it did)..wouldnt yesterdyays Kilkenny/Wexford game be better Leinster final now that the dart board game that is likely with Kilkenny and Galway, probably 0-32 to 0-29 or something.., I predicted on another post that Wexford would beat Kilkennny yesterday and that Waterford would beat Tipperary, but sure we better leave counties outside Leinster in it, sure only for them we'd be goosed...

Through the 80s and 90s there was only a puck of a ball between Offaly, Kilkenny and Wexford for the most part, while Laois and Westmeath had good teams in the 80s also. The noughties were pretty all Kilkenny after 2004 when we beat you in the Leinster final, but then they hammered all the Munster teams during that period also after Cork won the last of their all Ireland titles. The teens saw a resurgence in Dublin, and hopefully by the mid 20s we will see a similar resurgence in Offaly. Laois made the minor hurling final last year also, while Kildare are coming on steadily and have massive playing numbers. Westmeath also could have a very good team in a few years time. Definitely green shoots in Leinster. Would be handy if they all had some central funds to help the growth. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 14236 - 29/05/2023 18:57:11 2482722 Link 0 |
