Thoughts?? Banana skin or a win of some description

The way we're playing at the moment, every game is a potential banana skin. Having said that we should be able to account for Tipp and Waterford with minimal fuss. Beating Down is another matter entirely.

Hard to know really - I'll be honest, Im a little
ignorant of Tipp at the moment. My last memories of watching a Tipp match was the Munster Final in 2020 during the pandemic. Since then, and that was their panacea, they seem to have gone back a bit and are frequenting the lower two divisions.

Im sure they'll approach the game with a view to doing what everyone tries to do vs. Meath these days. They'll choke up the middle of the field when Meath have possession, wont mind fouling around the two 45 lines, will look to win their kickouts and cause disruption to Meath's kickout, play pressure, and ultimately play defensively first up. I do know they were beaten heavily by Kerry a few weeks back and were cute enough throughout the game to slow it down, target certain areas, all-around dark arts, etc, so they'll bring that to this game as well. And I dont mean that in a negative sense - you do what you have to in a game to stay competitive.

If Meath can re-group effectively, nail down their movement on the field, introduce a little more formality in their structure, work on their accuracy, and look at this tournament as a bit of a clean break, they should win.

A bit of an unkown quantity, I would imagine they have had their sights set on TC for quite a while. Still have some of the players from a few years back. Not sure what we will look like, who has come in/out will Shane Walsh be back, did Jones come through last game ok, will u20s get a run? Match day squad should give is a better picture how we will go about rest of season. Need to get off to a winning start.

I see Meath winning this game comfortably enough.
Tipp have gone back a lot since 2020 and even since last year when they went well in Div 4.

Not long now before the campaign. Heard county players back with clubs for games. That made total sense

3 debutants in the starting 15 and 2 others on the bench.

Same full and half back lines as the Offaly game. Different midfield but Jones back in McGowan to the bench and Gray gets his first senior start. Hickey, Curtis and Lenihan moved to the bench with Flynn, Lynch and O'Connor coming in in the forwards.

I would want Hogan to start this match unless he's not fit. We need a win and throwing in a debutant goal keeper might unsettle things if things go against us.

Nice couple of games to try out the likes of Conor Gray and for Aaron Lynch to hopefully make an impact. Be interested to see Ben Wyer get some game time too. A blow that Scully and Walsh are not available, hopefully they're back for Waterford.

Very excited to watch Conor Gray i think he will be a terrific inter county midfielder, Himself and Eoghan Frayne (who i beleive is injured) are the clear standouts from the 20s team. No point wasting time we should be playing them straight away and getting this rebuild on the road instead of finding new ways to hit rock bottom. A little surprised to see John O'regan on the bench given that he has another year of u20s.

Certainly a poorer outfit without Quinlivan, Sweeney and Bill Maher but we have gone back a lot since then too. Tipp will still be more than a match for us. I count seven Commercials players on their panel, they made Nemo Rangers look very average in Munster Club last year. We have found our level.

Emannuel not injured or with panel. Gray, Frayne, Caulfield, O'Regan & Billy hogan are all on the panel. Would like to see everyone of them play some tailteann cup. Gray and Frayne must start.

An area the size of navan not producing a player good enough to be on team just speaks volumes to where we're at...

I think he could be a good edition from what I've seen of him. What age is he ?

Hopefully Stephen Bray the Navan man from the backroom team can energise the forwards to show more anticipation by finding spaces for receiving quick ball. Might sound simple, but he made it look easy as a player. Like everything else that will take time to show maybe. Early days!
