If you get the right kind of fire stick from the right kind of people then every match is free on GAAGO and Bt sports and sky and the racing channels and golf. The list is endless!

Fire stick is the only way to go … One down payment and then €70 a year for an upgrade and then you see every match on GAAGO along with every fixture in the Premier League and a host of other sports not talk about films, documentaries and the likes… hundreds of stations to choose from…

Cheers. It'll work if you've a Smart TV with Google TV pre-installed. Was confusing it with the Google TV app you can install on your phone which is limited in comparison.

Hmmm not sure about that set up. Know a lad who got a magic box, after 2 weeks sky changed codes, had to pay for upgrade then same thing happened few months later. Now the guy who he got it from said he can't do it anymore as the cops told him he'd get arrested.

This is what baffles me. I bet the majority on here have a million subscriptions and are already paying yearly fees yet its their god given right to watch every GAA game on TV..

I had that a few years ago but had a lot of trouble with it.

Sure if we can't play the game we need to be able to watch it!!!

I've had the firestick for years - it's excellent, and tbh, everyone I know has one and never had issues.

You are missing the point. The GAa and RTÉ through GAAGO are charging people to watch matches that if shown as part of Saturday evening viewing would have audiences of hundreds of thousands. I do not watch RTÉ other than matches but I wouldn't imagine too many more people than that watching whatever else they had on same time as Tipp and Cork? Why don't they put Late Late behind a paywall? I'd imagine there'd be millions paying to see that :-) BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3437 - 12/05/2023 10:41:18 2477794 Link 0 |
Didn't think you could but I went through settings last night on fire stick and sure enough up pops GAAGO, two minutes later it was up and running. You'll not beat the Cavan man.

Do you have a TV license exemption?

Thats a ridiculous comment! Theres only one Late late. Did I see that theres 15-18 matches this weekend. If you cant grasp the difference in that I give up... tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 12/05/2023 12:24:06 2477835 Link 1 |
Not that I'm aware of. Have you? I didnt realise by paying my TV license that I could demand all Inter county hurling matches and all Tipp matches should be shown live on RTE. I actually thought that might be a bit arrogant of me but now that I know I'll contact RTE... Thanks for that... tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 12/05/2023 12:26:21 2477836 Link 1 |
My young boy doesn't believe me when I tell him All Ireland finals were the only live games on TV. We are spoilt with choice now compared to years ago.

And thinking you know the majority of people on this site and therefor making sweeping statements isn't arrogant? Or maybe unable to accept that theres a point of view which is different to yours. Fir what it's worth, I understand where you coming from and think the gaaGo model can work. I think the method of implementation this year is distasteful and unbalanced. At least if you don't sign up to GAAGO you won't run the risk of doing jailtime. Plus government gains on VAT from those subscriptions. Late Late doesn't need a paywall, more than paid for by sponsorship and ads broadcast when it's on. Camera crews, technical staff, commentators and analysts don't work for free either even if players do. Do people think there's a bottomless pit of money in the GAA to live broadcast more games? Has been plenty of posts here through the years asking for GAA to broadcast games here themselves. Now they're doing it some people online want more games shown on television and shown for no charge. The best place to look for unhappy people is online, very little positivity. GAAGO will have plenty of teething issues, many caused by themselves. But give it time at least to see how it goes. And scrap the TV licence so we can spend on GAAGO or other streaming services if we like and not that TV tax.
