I'm just after getting a GAAGO subscription and it seems that there is no app for a smart tv (which seems bizarre). Other than connecting a laptop to the telly with a HDMI cable, what is the best way to watch it? Báireoir (Dublin) - Posts: 80 - 16/04/2023 10:28:34 2471154 Link 1 |
Agreed on Smart TV app, potentially they'd get a nice few more subscriptions if they had one. Log in to gaago.ie on the TV browser. If you've a Chromecast dongle try casting to TV from phone/table GAAGO app or on browser. Try screen sharing off phone/tablet, depends if TV is compatible. When casting to Chromecast, why is there not an app available for Chromecast instead? legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8716 - 16/04/2023 15:36:57 2471207 Link 0 |
There is, kind of. There's a cast icon on your screen on the GAAGO app so you can cast your phone screen to the TV if your phone and TV are on the same network.

Issue with smart TV apps is that just about every brand of smart TV uses a different system. So you wouldn't just be creating one GAA Go smart TV app - you'd have to create several of them. The simple economics of it probably wouldn't stack up when you weigh up development costs against any likely benefit in terms of extra numbers of subscribers. The GAA are being criticised for putting games behind a pay wall. Seems like criticism for the sake of it. For years people had radio commentary if they were not able to get to a game. The GAA seem to have found a fair balance. There is an argument being put out there about older generations. Older generations will have grown up listening to games on the radio. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8716 - 06/05/2023 12:34:41 2476061 Link 2 |
Plenty of the older generation watch games on television. Difficult to watch them on the radio. GAAGO could bite them though. There are ways to watch GAAGO live games without a subscription.

There is a GAAGO app for Chromecast with Google TV. It works perfectly.

Thanks! I'll check it out the next time I'm paying for a game. I bought the 3 match bundle and have 2 more to go.

The puzzling thing is that premium games are now on gaaGo.. The older generation got used to watching these for the last good number of years on TV. God love them, they had the life knocked out of them during Covid. I think a better balance is needed.

How do you link to GAAGO in Google TV ?looks like Discovery, Disney and Prime are the only 3 supported apps in my Google TV and I can't add GAAGO. My GAAGO app works fine, good in browser too, just not accessible on Google TV. No real info on GAAGO site.

There is a lad in Mullingar who sells a doggy box (or something like that) with GaaGo on it. so all the games along with hundreds of other channels all for €50 per year. I just heard about him but thinking about going down to him and buying it. clare_sparrow (Galway) - Posts: 441 - 10/05/2023 09:23:17 2477173 Link 0 |
What does everyone thing of the quality of the streaming ? I have bought a couple of games so far this year but quality of the streaming is terrible as it constantly freezes. SouthMonMan (Monaghan) - Posts: 153 - 10/05/2023 09:41:08 2477183 Link 0 |
Do a search for GAAGO in the search bar on the Google TV (Android 12 version) homescreen and it should be there. There is a huge range of apps that are supported - much greater than just the ones you listed?

I use Google Chromecast, there is an icon on the phone when steaming that allows you to connect it onto the tv screen via the Chromecast dongle DuhallowRed (Cork) - Posts: 309 - 11/05/2023 14:56:03 2477636 Link 0 |
GAAGO app on the firestick but you might need prime membership. If you dont have that just used the browser app and login that way. I'm sure plenty of other ways like whats been suggested above tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 11/05/2023 16:07:37 2477671 Link 0 |
