To your post, I think they should double up 'all' Prov KO pairings into the groups, where possible. I think it's a fair compromise - schedule group games with Prov QFs early, with teams from opposite halves of Prov draw pairing up in later rounds (potential Finals).

Only if the League was more meaningful would such intertwining work, I think. Say, league top 6 and 2 Prov Champs could make the AI QFs, with any 'double up' Champs (likely) getting byes.
