Limerick Hurling thread 2023

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Congratulations Limerick. That second-half performance was as close to hurling perfection as ever will you see; complete. It brought to mind the Kilkenny performances of 2008 and 1982.

I think that almost nobody can now raise any question over the greatness and class of this Limerick team. If in doubt, just watch the points the likes of Peter Casey, Cathal 0'Neill, Byrnes and Hayes put over in that second-half; almost magic.

Only negative! I wasn't there in CP, just on GAAGo to witness such a majestic performance. God willing, it'll be there for the 5.

Keeping it going, Limerick! And ENJOY!

Well done to limerick.

I never thought I'd see a team raise the bar from kk in 06 to 09 but this limerick team have.

I was rooting for the cats today (which I'm never comfortable with) but I'm delighted for limerick.

A bit of a soft spot since the 90s and historically we're very similar.

Limerick have shown all of us what can be achieved.

Exceptionally well drilled, extremely fit, supreme confidence in what they're doing.

Enjoy the celebrations, I will fall asleep tonight dreaming that I might see another one here.

So the sideline cuts are poor!! Unfortunately the rest of their game is what we all have to worry about.

Galway have more to work on than sideline cuts. And we have even more to work on.

Did a sideline cut ever win an AI final? Were enough of them ever put over in a final to make a significant difference?

I actually don't know the answers to these questions, but I've seen every AI hurling final since 1969, either in person (a handful of occasions) or on TV, and never have I seen a sideline cut make any difference at all.

It undoubtedly is a great skill, but like overhead doubling it seems that it is not some that a good manager should waste much time on in training.

Go practice then yourself out in your back haggard if you fell they are that important, and come back and tell us how many
out of 10 you managed to cut over!

Utter #####. If that's all this Limerick team had they wouldn't have won 1 all Ireland never mind the 5 they have won in the last 6 years.

Agree with it all Doyler... I admire this Limerick team more than any of the other successful counties.

Limerick weren't the original royalty and to beat Cork and KK on the biggest stage in the manner that they have, its something the rest of us pretenders can only dream about.

Next year all the talk will be of 5 in a row and i wish Limerick all the best in that

Ah here lad, you'll need alot more than the fumes of the can of thinners you're inhaling to really believe that Galway will beat us next time out

You do realise that Limerick take sidelines for a reason, Limerick players can take the sidelines you wish for but that's not part of the game plan, Darragh O'Donovan scored a beauty back 18 against the cats.

They're a wonderful side to watch. Built like brick shithouses but with the deft touch of a sculptor. A very hard hitting, skillful, fit, superbly coached team. Possibly the best there's ever been. Congratulations and well done....again.

Doyler thanks for your post..sidelines are used as part of starting the game for limerick not for scoring..Donovan has no problem or Nash or reidy..are people seriously saying it's all muscle and brawn with limerick, please come out of that fog yere in..missing two outstanding ball players in Finn and hannon..have a look at Nash,Donovan,Lynch, reidy,Casey and mulcshy..18 for me will always be the best..21 was an outstanding day but the 2 nd half for me today was best I've seen from this team..they have brought complete and utter joy to the people of limerick.thanks very much for some of the best sporting moments I'll ever remember..

KK are the best hurling county of all teams and probably have had some of the greatest teams of all time, I have not seen great Cork or tipp teams but this limerick team is the greatest team I have ever seen

The second half display from Limerick was like the ' 5 minute ' All Ireland in 1994 except it went on for a full 35 mins. The most comprehensive half of hurling that I can remember and thrilling to watch. I really hope this Limerick team go on to win 5 in a row and become the undisputed GTOAT but they are all ready that in my mind. Well done Limerick.

Congratulations to all the Limerick posters here. I don't know what more can be said but a truly awesome team that we are privileged to watch. I thought I would be an old old man before I'd see the great Kilkenny team surpassed, I think this Limerick side have achieved it. Well done
