Anyone who thinks that the sub mess was a deliberate ploy to have extra men on the field is stretching things."
I don't think it was a deliberate ploy but it was unbelievably poor organisation out of the Crokes management team. They obviously never got a message to the lad who was supposed to be coming off.

Two completely different scenarios, in the Christy Ring Cup Meath broke no rules. By virtue of the fact that the scoreboard was wrong the GAA Officially gave misleading information. And the referee told the Meath freetaker at the end of that game that it was the last play of the game so he just made sure to put the ball out of play, had he been fully aware that the sides were actually level it is possible that he may have taken more care, we will never know that but ALSO in the event of the game finishing level EXTRA TIME was to be played so this time the GAA did not alone mislead but broke their own match regulations and some how Meath were to blame. As events transpired Meath did replay the match as soon as they had their team available bearing in mind that several of their players had family commitments arranged immediately after the original game, which was to be finished 'on the day'. I believe that the GAA were indeed going to arrange the ordered refixture on a date that was mutually acceptable to both Glen and Kilmacud.

In hindsight it seems neither team/club actually wanted a replay. Glen made an objection it appears to give themselves some sort of moral victory, like they wanted to object to Kilmacud's victory but didn't really think the infringement cost them the game.
