Where Are They Now...

(Oldest Posts First)

just something different than the usual threads here, think I done this peviously...just picking two hurlers out of my head that were excellent for their counties but had relatively short careers for back then...to start Cork hurlers Barry Egan and Kevin Murray - two very tasty forwards...where are they now and how did the go off the county scene I wonder...

This millennium in Wexford Des Mythen and Jack Guiney were two of the better hurlers who didn't stick at intercounty. Guess it's not for everybody.

Barry Egan picked up 2 national league medals in 1993 against Wexford & 1998 against Waterford.

From 1993 to 1998 Cork had only win in the championship & no back door so for Egan in his prime he didn't see much exposure on a national level.

Kevin Murray picked up an All Ireland in 1999 & left inter county competition in 2002, unlike Egan picked up the medal that counted.

As a foward I always felt he didn't mind taking punishment to get his scores, not a lad that was inclined to drop easily or give his opponent that satisfaction.

MJ Tierney from Laois is a fella I sometimes wonder what happened.

Was very good at underage but I recall him being pretty good for a few seasons in the late 2000s early 2010s.

Re Kevin Murray of Cork, Martin Hanamy of Offaly said when he retired, that Kevin Murray was one of the most difficult forwards he ever encountered and said he was probably the best.

Paul Finn of Wexford an lelthal half forward when we beat them in 1994 Leinster final..fell away relatively quickly Ide say too...was there in 1996 I think..Aonghus O'Grady of Dublin another lethal forward but with no back door was rarely heard of outside the NHL...
