Tomsmith here

Perhaps we could have the great Gaa pubs in each Town that has a County playing field.
In Cavan we have the Imperial
In Clones we have the Creighton Hotwl
In Dublin we have Mc Graths and maybe Maghers in Richmond Road
In Ennis you have Brogans.
Can anyone add to this

Already mentioned Park Inn, Kilkenny.
Kennedy's, Thurles
Bowe's. Thurles.
Clones used to have a few good spots. Busted Sofa! Paragon is gone, unfortunately,
The bar behind stand in Omagh is good spot.
And of course, Craobh beside Parnell.

In Salthill there is Sheridans in Clybaun. There is also a pub in Wood quay with a GAA emphasis.

Terrible place for a match from the perspective of getting a pint as well as getting in and out in half a day!

Cleary's across the road from Connolly Station and ten minutes walk from Croke Park is a great pub to go to before and after a match.

I'm sure it is. Was referring more to the fact that if you are down for the day, and trying to be close to the ground, even for league matches, that Pearse does not have that sort of feeling that it is part of the surroundings, and conducive to spending a few hours around the place. I'd say same about Walsh Park.

Agh its odious that some Towns dont have a recognised GAA bar.
Kildare is a sort of aCounty that Gaa Bars are sort of in short supply.
I remember going down to see Seanie Johnston play a sort of Hurling game wan time he transferred to Kildare and sure we dident get to aGaa pub till we got back past Whitegate Cross and we quenched our thrist in Virgina

I actually have some great memories of games in St. Conleths county grounds Newbridge, club and county hurling in particular, sorry to disappoint but Newbridge has a number of gaa pubs that are first class second to none, like Mc Donalds a truly historic gaa pub, music, banter etc, all welcome. O'Rourkes opposite St. Conleths is another fine gaa pub fans from visiting counties drop in before and after games further down the street is Coffeys pub another historic gaa house, a few meters further on is Johnsons that is steeped in the gaa. So perhaps Tommy with all the kindness that's in me can I suggest its some other county you were in, or just maybe you might not have even left cavan.

NB. I have connections only in Newbridge but I am very familiar with the sod and county.

Keep the faith.

Tom will surely be aghast at the 12 cent increase in pints of Guinness products coming in. Another blow for the vintners of the country who will surely pass on this increase to the customer. I genuinely fear for the pubs of Ireland in rural areas. It's becoming next to impossible to earn a living. The only hope you'd have is you own the property and the mortgage cleared. Even then the overheads must be very difficult - public liability insurance, heating and electricity etc.

And profit margin for the pubs. More than likely 20 to 25c depending on the pub.

It's blatantly obvious, where it matters most it's about stealth and window dressed profiteering that is getting out of control at speed.

Unfortunately this is what happens when you have two companies (Diageo and Heineken) pretty much have total control over the market. Whoever came up with Island's Edge should be exiled.

Had to laugh at the Vintner's federation talking out both sides of their mouths in their submission on the licensing laws. They reckon giving new licenses will put existing pubs out of business, but also that any new pubs will inevitably give a poor service because they'll lack "generational experience".
