Should The Provincial Final Venus Be Alternated Around The Province

Tomsmith here

I just wonder should the Provincial final Venus be alternated around each province .
Take Munster for example many fine stadiums exist to house teh Munster final other than Fitz in Killarney or Park o in Cork.
In Leinster you have others that Croke Park.
In Connaught you have Salthill, Roscommon, and Castlebar.
In Ulster , you have ( when built) Casement Park, Breffni Park and Clones,
I surely speak on behalf on many residents where these finals are held eack year ( Who have to tolerate inconvenience) when I say give some of those Towns arest fro a few years ,
Change the venus around

Venue for Connacht Finals varies among the 3 Grounds you've mentioned depending on the teams involved.

The problem in Leinster is that Croke Park is too big for the Provincial final, and the next biggest grounds (Nowlan Park 27,000, O'Moore Park 22K and Dr Cullen Park 21K), are a bit too small. A ground with a capacity between 40 and 50K would be ideal.

It's a shame Dublins planned ground on the M50 still hasn't come to anything.

Sometimes people here from certain counties don't think about hurling.

But seems you're not thinking about football.....!

I know that Portlaoise is the designated second provincial ground, but to my mind, Nowlan Park is the best of the rest in terms of hosting a large(ish) occasion.

Still wouldn't be suitable for a provincial final, though. Capacity of 27,000 isn't enough, and even if it could hold 50,000 it probably still wouldn't suit to have the Leinster hurling final there in any year Kilkenny are in it (which is most of them!). Neither Wexford Park nor Pearse Stadium, for example, would be capable of hosting it any other year, so you couldn't have a home-and-away type agreement like in Munster hurling. And neither Wexford nor Galway would be likely to want to hand home advantage to Kilkenny, without ever getting it back themselves.

I don't know about other provinces but there is a minimum capacity requirement for a Connacht Final which always rules out Markievicz Park and Pairc Sean. Think it is a minimum of 20k. Pretty sure that when Sligo/Leitrim make a final against the big 3 there is a coin toss to decide on venue or something to that effect....

And me. I've commented on it the past. I find there's a bit of arrogance about it from some of the big ball fans on here.

Wow the irony of a hurling fan calling anyone else arrogant...

I know this wasnt directed to me but I follow both codes but I still find it arrogant that some football only fans cant distinguish between the two. Admin should also edit.
Alos not really what this post actually means! Jealous of hurling fans or whats your issue?

Easy solution...
Have sub forums for hurling and gaelic like many other websites forums do. There's only 1 forum here now and it's too congested

Where did I say anything about being jealous? Just pointing out there are few more arrogant fans in Irish sports than hurling fans.

Maybe you can explain what hurling fans issue with football is? Seeing as they spend quite a bit of time complaining about it?

That's a really good idea. There could even be sub-forums for each county. I wonder why nobody has thought of it before?????

And yes, I'm being smart too.....! :)
