He was in Belgium working but heard he's back, saw him in the crowd the day we played Laois in Leinster championship but don't know for certain if that was a holiday back or back for good.

I only said "might" because I think Shanley adds that bit of creativity up front. The other 2 are obvious starters for sure.

A win on Sunday would gaurantee a knockout spot and would put us in the driving seat to win the group outright.
I would also urge caution as its a wide open group, with Leitrim by no means out of it even if they lose again on Sunday.
We simply have to make our home advantage count on Saturday v Antrim.
An awful pity there is not a double header in the park on Sunday, it could easily be made to work if Wexford really wanted. Both backroom teams could use the coaching room for the game.
Or Footballers game on first they use the two dressing rooms, Antrim get one of the away dressing rooms.
The hurlers use the coaching room for pre match and the stewards in Wexford Park could easily transfer their gearbags into the two dressing rooms before half time in the hurling once the footballers vacate the dressing rooms.
Give Westmeath the second away dressing room and tough luck on them and Antrim we are the home team and we shouldnt really care how big their dressing rooms are.

Have heard a rumour that our hurling and football squads came to some sort of agreement re. dressing rooms all right, with a view to a double-header taking place. But then Antrim wouldn't agree to switching their match from Saturday evening to Sunday.

But it's just a rumour that I've only heard second- or third-hand. I couldn't swear to it that it's true.

It was the most 'game of two halves' match I was ever at.

They were excellent in the first half. Really really steady defensively especially and caused Meath no end of problems every time they ran at them. Didn't kick a wide in the half either. It was momentum that killed in the end- no great system failure from Wexford's part just a common trait in underage competition. Meath went on a scoring burst and looked like they wouldn't miss a thing either. I think amid Meath's scoring mania, we were either level or a point up and we went for goal when a point then would have steadied things a bit.

Thought Reddy and Hughes at wing back were brilliant, with Furlong and Kavanagh showing great leadership in the first half particularly. Gilbert looks a promising prospect, and I was impressed with Funge in midfield too, who I believe is underage again next year.

Thanks Beano. It's great to see green shoots.

Yeah I'd agree with this, unless he was injured taught taking off Harry Murphy after 40 mins or so was an odd one. Funge is going to be some unit if he's still only 16!

Strange how south east radio didn't cover the match from wexford Park. I listened to Meath radio who gave full commentary. I believe Spratt was playing golf in Lahinch. They rely totally on him. Now he's entitled to his leisure time but surely there should be somebody else to share the load.
He will be covering 3 games this week which is great but having to listen to Meath radio was infuriating..
The match was indeed a game of 2 halves ( aren't they all)) After dominating the first half and leading by 7 points all looked rosy but they totally outplayed us in the second half scoring 3.8 to our paltry 3 points. How could we be so good and then terrible? It takes the gloss off the Laois game, they must have been brutal. Still there are some very good footballers on this team so it's not all doom and gloom.
Couldn't make the match due to family issues.

I was told today that a double header wasn't possible because the Tailtean cup is a Croke Park, or national, fixture and the hurling is a Leinster council match. Couldn't see Leinster council agreeing to a 50-50 split of the gate receipts.

The split of a 50-50 double header would have been more than the crowd at the Antrim match

I think that may be true but in true GAA fashion it could have been arranged if everyone agreed but then that was not going to happen as the LC would lose out.
