Kearns Taking Charge Of Offaly Football

Kearns did well with Limerick and then Tipperary. There's a good chance that Offaly will win the Tailteann Cup in the next few years.

Offaly seem obsessed with appointing managers from yester year for some reason….

Jack O Connor is much more of a yesteryear man(ager) than Liam Kerins.

We had great times with Liam as Manager in Limerick. Wins over Cork, Offaly, Cavan in the championship and we beat Armagh in division 1 of the NFL in 2004. We took Kerry to a replay in the 2004 Munster Final and were it not for Darragh O'Se we might even have won the first day.

What he did with Tipperary was impressive also.

Have to say Michael Duginan is doing very well with getting new managers on board in Offaly. Clearly he's looking to build all the time & credit where it is due.

O Connor has a past history of huge success… that is where the huge difference is….

Yeah. Why don't they just simply copy what Cavan does! Then the Sams, the Liam's and the Tailteens will all start rollin again….

Oh wait…!

Surprised, had heard that T. Ó Sé was in the frame for the Offaly job. Shows how trustworthy that grapevine is anyway!

What gripe do you have with Kearns?

Kearns was over a ckub team in Ros last two years and didnt go well from reports from the camp. Was reappointed again for this year but players were not going to commit if he stayed and he stepped down in March. Its my own club so i know the ins and outs.
Has a great cv though and done excellent with Tipp. When we got him seemed a coup but was extreme let down. Maybe was just us but think more to it than that

None whatsoever…. In his day he did quite well. Offaly appointed Maughan who hadn't managed at county level for years and now Kearns who is similar.. they have an up and coming young team so I'm surprised one of their own wasn't interested…?

When you have to go back 18 years to show where he was successful it just clarifies my point… Duginan might be better served making an inside appointment and I'm pretty sure he must have tried..

Declan Kelly U 20 manager, is not available, due to work commitments. Liam Kearns is the new manager.

About 70% of managers are about average but lucky.
About 20% are below average and get away with it for a while.
About 10% will be successful but not without a special panel of players who are ready willing and able, etc, etc, etc.

He managed Tipp to a Munster final and an All-Ireland semi final in 2016. He also kept them in Div 2. Or do you just want to ignore that?

I think this is a very underwhelming appointment by Offaly considering the management team they are after getting into the hurling setup. It shows the priority within county board level is hurling which is no surprise with Duignan at the helm. The problem for Offaly was they were full sure Tomas O Se would take the job and I know his line is he got a work promotion which I don't doubt but it suits him as he seen the setup first hand this year and he probably realised it wasn't worth his while taking over this team in his first inter county job as they are not good enough. A lot of the talk coming out of Offaly about Maughan since the hammering they got off Westmeath was disgraceful and to replace him with someone of similar pedigree is no more than they deserve.

There was no Tailteann Cup though. The Tailteann Cup is a game changer.

We are struggling in hurling too.

With the greatest of respect, the Tailteann Cup has not been tried and tested, it was thrown into proto type mode supported by media hype, I'm not saying it will be a failure neither can I say it will be a success until its proven, I fail to understand how / why a person like yourself appear to show such an interest in counties of a lesser God.
