Replying To Aibrean:  "Excellent post. 'Tá cead cainte ag fear caillte an cluiche'."
Ach níor cheart don bhuaiteoir a bheith ag clamhsán!

Replying To anotheralias:  "There are always plusses and minusses. Forgive us Galway people for pointing to some of the what ifs . Its important for losing teams to talk about these as part of the recovery process and as part of the pyschological rebuilding to convince ourselves that we can bridge the gap. I think you would have to acknowledge that almost all Galway commentators agree that Kerry were the better side just like most Kerry supporters agree that the 4 point margin flattered them. Kerry supporters in general are gracious in victory and in defeat and (unlike Limerick supporters) dont try to rub salt into wounds."
Simply put all Limerick Supporters are not on here or even a small fraction of them. I would not accept comments by anybody on Forums like this as representative of the sporting qualities of any particular county, as a whole. A few of Galway Supporters and a few of us Limerick men might take it a bit too far on here, but I had a life time of contact with Galway Sporting people, and I have said this before here, they are sporting in victory and defeat. The gracious comments of Joe Canning, in the midst of his disappointment, after the '18 Final illustrated Galway Sportsmanship at its very best.
BTW, I also worked with Kerry men and the occasional one could be also ungracious even though in our case we were always the losers (Football). However the vast majority of them, were always magnanimous in victory.
I would say that some supporters, and I saw them in my own county as well over the years, find it easier to be gracious in defeat if beaten by One of the Big Three in Hurling or Dublin or Kerry in Football..

Replying To endgame:  "Brolly may be an attention seeker as you say but he's a very bright man and a lot of his analysis is on the money. Kerry were the better team last Sunday but Galway were close. It's hard now with quarter finals to get to a Final. No assurances at all that Galway will be back in the Final soon so of course they'll have regrets."
Yeah but he also said that it was never put up to Kerry.
That is plainly nonsense. It was 16 all after 67 minutes ffs. Once Kerry went 17-16 up they never looked back but it a big contest up to that.

Great game of football. Galway are an up and coming county and hopefully we can keep everyone on board for 2022.
Gaa is strong in Galway at the moment with both our hurlers and footballers able to compete with the best. This a very young football team with most of the players in their early 20s. We need to strengthen our bench in both codes and we will be very near to winning either Sam or Liam in the not to distant future. Paul Bellew has said it numerous times that we need to be competing at Semifinal level every year and if we are not it is a failure. This is the vision to have.
In terms of the final i think everyone agrees that the soft free given against Galway at a really crucial stage was enough to turn a very even contest. If the free was given the other way we were gone down the field and anything could have happened. Sean Hurson had a great game but id say when he looks back at it he will regret it.
Kerry were were not a 4 point better team.
But fair play to them they had their own hard luck stories over the last 3 years. But the longer you stay at it the luckier you get unless your Mayo.
So in both hurling and football the clubs and the county board and the players are doing a tremendous job so well done to everyone involved.
Gaillimh Abu.
