Justin McCarthy also, all Ireland winner as player for Cork and managed rebels to all Ireland success in 1980's. He was less successful (thankfully) in stints with Waterford and Limerick. In general, I think ex players are often successful managers. Davy Fitz is no exception, he did ok in 2013 with Clare, but his stints with other counties were fruitless! If none of those boys win a senior all Ireland there would have to be some sort of system failure somewhere. He won a leinster with wexford and a munster with waterford, and in that time he was in charge of waterford only kilkenny and tipp beat them. Hardly fruitless. Same mantra applies in Cork. It's probably time to disband the provincial championships… relics of a bygone age! Good luck to both Limerick and Kilkenny and it should be a cracker. In the last 20 AI finals including replays you have only appeared 4 times. And your defeats have steadily got worse. 3 points in 2006. 6 points in 2013. And 16 points in 2021. At that rate you might lose your next 1 by 32 points or more! In that same time period you have only won 4 provincial titles. You should prize them as much as anyone else.
