Did you watch the game? The referee's decisions in closing stages completely decided the outcome. Nothing else. To say Offaly had the game won in their heads is nonsense. The far better team lost and it's simply not acceptable that blatantly wrong decisions were responsible.

Thought it should have been a free out for Offaly, but over 60 ins these decisions even out. Easy to the blame the ref, when Offaly had an extra man and a substantial lead.

Really enjoyable game of hurling. Offaly were excellent and I cant imagine what its like being a person closely involved with the team right now. They showed so much heart.
Big shout out to the GAA for making this final one to remember by packing out a stadium of suitable size. The atmosphere seemed to be class throughout.
Well done Tipp. I think you will wake up in the morning and wonder if it was all a dream!

Few things from today.

1 Tipp again showed unbelievable heart....that's number of games this year, clare munster final and Galway semi where both games could and possibly should have have lost (although I think probably slightly better team in both)

Today, offaly were the better team and deserved to win.

2 biggest thing from today. The can't from minor and under 21 to year younger grade has been shown up. These lads are too young for this stage. The step up to senior is also too wide for progression. Great entertainment but the development between under 17 and under 18 is too great. I hope we go back to traditional grades, quality (although not lacking today) was better and the stage these lads were put on is too big for such young people. Said it from when they were put in and last few years we had under 17 before all ireland final it's far too early for them.

Delighted for the win but was as heartbroken as you could be for the young offaly players today

An unbeleivable and enthralling hurling match. Some of the scores and accuracy from distance werent seen in the senior games at the weekend. I completely disagree that this game showed that it should go back to U18 - what game were you looking at?! This has been an unbelievable Minor championship....far more enjoyable than the senior....and not because Tipp won it. I think anyone who seen the majority of games would agree.
I said here as recently as Friday that the best team always wins - I was proven wrong yesterday. Offaly were unbelievable and I never seen a team defend so well. Tipp have real good forwards in my opinion but none of them got going, tey just werent let. You have to feel sorry for Offaly.

Posters from both Kk and Westmeath should hang their heads in shame with their comments on this thread. Talking about young lads in that light is just not good enough especially when there are multiple incidents of KK players throwing hurls. The game was extremely physical and a great game yet some posters only contribution is to criticise young lads not long out of their junior cert.

From a Tipp perspective I've never seen a Tipp team like them who refuse to die in every game. Just like the Munster final the subs made a huge impact when Tipp went down to 14 and six points down immediately after.
I seen the Tipp-Offaly teams from the 1989 U21 final and I reckon about 10 of that Offaly team won senior All Irelands and 8/9 from the Tipp team were also senior players. Maybe similiar might happen from these two teams.

Admittedly I am not a good person to talk about hurling but the young Tipp lad throwing his hurl at another player is disgraceful and should be punished as much as the eye gouge by the Armagh player in the All Ireland Football semi final.

Hasn't been an injustice like the one in yesterday's minor game, since MS denied Louth a Leinster title in 2010. Offaly were robbed, last incident was a clear free out & there were two other very contentious frees in the last 10 minutes. The thrown hurl incident should have been a penalty as well as it clearly struck & put off the Offaly player & denied him a goal scoring chance. Awful to see young lads robbed by officiating like that, best team on the day done out of an All Ireland title. Offaly going the right direction putting skill ahead of size, in other counties Screeny would be dropped for being too light. Credit the coaches & coaching Development in Offaly for putting skill first, shame it wasn't rewarded.

Hurl throwing incident was outside large square so couldn't be penalty and the black card rule only exists at senior level so in fairness to ref he can't be criticised on that decision. Tipp poster not happy with my description of corner forward's behaviour, he committed three red card offences in one incident, flaked Offaly lad twice as hard as he could before firing the hurl at his head, could easily have cost opponent sight in an eye, how would he describe the behaviour?
