Fantastic game. Thought the Dubs were going to steal it. Huge balls for the free at the end. Final should be a cracker. SimonstownBack (Meath) - Posts: 163 - 10/07/2022 17:54:14 2431116 Link 1 |
He was totally entitled to go for the ball but he also has a duty of care to his fellow gael & his trailing foot hit Dub keeper in face. It also wasn't a penalty imo. But on fine margins games are won & fairnolay to Kerry. Dubs did better without Con than I thought.

I thought it was a poor first half, Dublin were very average. But for the 10 minutes they actually played football in the second half they never looked like winning. Very exciting at the end. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3148 - 10/07/2022 17:57:40 2431118 Link 0 |

Not at all Mesamis. Kerry may as well be handed Sam now. One horse race. As Colm O'Rourke said there at the end, it's the end of one dynasty and the beginning of another.

I agree. He went for man an ball. Wreckless and dangerous play which is at least a yellow. No skin in the game. The better team won. But O Shea shouldn't have been on the pitch at the end picking up yellow in the second.

there are times when it pays to play like that ...kerry today a prime example the done it to draw out the dublin defense (all men back but we wont mention that) because dublin had to chase the game and that then left gaps to create scoring opportunities also radio silence on the fact dublin twice went 15 mins without a score ..something most other counties would be blasted for the key difference is dublin and kerry arent afraid to take on the defender or have a shot from distance tweak donegal or derry a bit and we are there too aside from that fair play to sean o se on nailing that last point ..what a score i think we could do with trying to bring a rule on time wasting ..be hard to police but for me dublin keeper was black and white faking it Peadarw (Donegal) - Posts: 43 - 10/07/2022 18:08:47 2431126 Link 2 |
What level would be an acceptable amount in terms of him going for it for you? Just a wee toe poke that'll never make it past the keeper? He went to smash it because it was his best chance of getting a goal off the rebound. Comerford saved it. That's all there was to it. The fact is he got there first. Had Comerford gotten on the ball before O'Sé and then O'Sé kicked him, we can talk about foul play. But SOS got there first, and with a bit to spare from the slow mo replay. Because he went with so much force there was follow through. Give a foul for that if you want but nothing more.

Canning and McStay worshipped at Dublin's altar right from the start. It was embarrassing at times. They got constant digs in at yesterday's game and were really targeting Ulster sides. Was it only a year ago that Tyrone played some lovely direct football on their way to winning SAM?? What do people want? Armagh and Derry against Clare showed they're as capable as anyone of playing good football. Though I do agree that constant handpassing backwards and sideways must be curtailed. Had Kerry gotten that 2nd goal when they were in the ascendency, either from the penalty or O'Brien's chance in the opening of the 2nd half where he picked it off the ground, I think you'd have been looking at a 6 or 7 point beating. But Dublin hung in there and the likes of Kilkenny were really brilliant in that 2nd half in the fightback. I agree that Galway will have a great shout in the final but I think Kerry will play a lot of long balls in to the full forward line and we've already seen how Armagh got on with that. The fact Derry didn't attempt it once yesterday is baffling. But I think Galway have forwards to really hurt Kerry. I think it could be a cracker. Semi finals are to be won, we don't care what you think about the quality. By the way we have 9 All Ireland football titles (only behind Kerry and Dublin and ahead of everyone else), we don't need your guidance on increasing that number, perhaps send your view to the Secretary of the Antrim county board so you get to one.

If he had an Armagh jersey on him the penalty would've sailed wide right!

That's just silly talk, world of difference with going hard for a ball (which he's entitled to do) or running in to deliberately eye gouge a player.

Looking back, Sean O'Shea's following foot made contact on Evan Comerford's head. The officials didn't give it.

its a sticky one ill grant that but i do feel there was an element of intent there maybe look at defining contact a bit he coulda took the head off the keeper ...im not against heavy contact but a boot to the face is a bit much ...i could be wrong but thats my outlook on it

Very negative from a Galway man. Galway have the game to run Kerry very close. Hope they get a good ref, as Kerry will pull strokes and foul if they can. Galway can win, if they believe. Dubs did not believe today. Galway need a good start and some breaks, the way Kerry got the luck today. Gaillimh abú

Watching the Dublin keeper shake the posts for the last kick of the game was embarrassing stuff. Pure school-boy nonsense. I'm surprised the umpire let him away with it, to be honest. And don't get me started on his "injury" in the first half. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3148 - 10/07/2022 18:49:10 2431146 Link 6 |
