Couldn't agree more. Once the leaders of the free world and self proclaimed moral compass for the rest of the globe have got the leaders they fully deserve.

Well done Donald Trump. Controversial character but he seemed better of the two candidates, Kamala seemed weak in my opinion. DuhallowRed (Cork) - Posts: 301 - 06/11/2024 12:46:15 2578575 Link 2 |
Slowly but surely this decade in beginning to resemble the 1930s as right wing fascist leader after right wing fascist leader is rising to power in more and more countries. This is only heading 1 way as countries become more insular and looking after their only personal interest at the expense of the greater good, like the 1940s it took a lot of bloodshed to eradicate the world of this poison and it may have to again. Trump and his like are no joke and the world he will shape will not be a good place. updwell (Limerick) - Posts: 847 - 06/11/2024 13:28:17 2578580 Link 2 |
Agreed it was a race to the bottom but Harris was brutal candidate didn't even have courage to show face last night Her campaign seemed to be based on she was black female and trump was a bad man. Some people on here looking very foolish claiming to be all seeing all knowing predicting trump and Vance were a joke I haven't a breeze about politics but always seemed fairly clear trump would win. jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1285 - 06/11/2024 13:40:16 2578583 Link 0 |
I was wrong like i was in 16. And that doesn't mean Trump isn't a joke by the way. It says more about where half of America is at. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 8155 - 06/11/2024 14:02:35 2578586 Link 1 |
I wouldn't call people who predicted a Harris win foolish. Lots of professional political commentators called it for Harris. Polls can't be trusted. Fact is Americans have looked at their spending power, inflation etc and blamed Biden and the democrats. A Harris win was seen as a continuation of this. They got punished rightly or wrongly. I've heard many Americans say they don't like Trump but preferred his policies over Harris and hence voted for him. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11405 - 06/11/2024 14:19:56 2578588 Link 1 |
Which half do you have in mind, is it the half led by Biden and Harris who were compliant in a genocide or the other half led by Trump who will continue with the same policy.

I was not a fan of Harris either, or Biden. But Trump was elected purely on an anti immigration vote, nothing else. She was still a better option. RFK and Musk out front and centre for Trump. Literal conspiracy weirdos. It's all mad stuff.

Do you not think the political establishment Harris is part of is a bigger threat to peace? Biden gave Putin a free pass. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3142 - 06/11/2024 14:45:04 2578597 Link 0 |
Inflation was a big issue too and trump seems to have won over a lot of Latino & black vote so not purely immigration. I think people let their hatred of trump cloud their judgement. Like there is people going on how it's a disaster for Gaza etc when things ain't been all roses there the last year. Looks like he is going to resolve the pga liv tour divide as per Rory so the important stuff been dealt with right away. Musk is also one of the richest men on the planet why would he not have him onside. Harris had Beyoncé front and centre for her closing serious ??? and skeletons there. jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1285 - 06/11/2024 14:51:23 2578600 Link 1 |
There'll be a falling out there. There's no way Trump will stand for Musk hogging his limelight. 2 spoilt idiots whose wealth is based on inheritance, subsidies and various bankruptcy scams

I don't think Trump will see out his term jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20687 - 06/11/2024 15:01:25 2578607 Link 0 |
The West obviously trying to control the conflict and not having it spread beyond Ukraine and didn't what to antagonise too much was their philosophy but Trump stopping the war on his first day in office will be to cut off weapons supply to Ukraine and give Putin what he wants in return for an end to Russian aggression. That will work for a while until the Russians rebuild and start pushing further west again. Great for Trump and the isolationist backers but it's only delaying the eventual conflict when the US will have to face the Russians on the battlefield when the Russians are in a stronger position, it's time to stop them now in Ukraine before they get going but I don't think Trump will go against Putin.

But Trump didn't even have to explain his economic plans. Wasn't even able to explain how Tariffs work. She was not a good candidate but her policies were also ignored while he didn't have to even offer any. Just soundbites. Also musk is a conspiracy theorist and anti vaxxer who has been fact checked way too many times for anyone close to any degree of power. Trump back in confirms America is very much stupid is as stupid does. I'd fear what this re-election means for Ireland. He's big friends with Putin, Netanyahu so not good news for Ukraine and palestine. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 240 - 06/11/2024 16:47:20 2578628 Link 1 |

Lads you are all getting a bit carried away. The people who make the real decisions in America will go to the same desks tomorrow as they went to yesterday. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 13852 - 06/11/2024 17:12:17 2578635 Link 2 |
Go on the Trump ….. It's an awful pity we don't have a political leader here that would put there own country first instead of the snowflakes we currently have… ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3025 - 06/11/2024 17:29:00 2578640 Link 5 |
