Good question. Remember them well but no idea when they died out .

Similar programs were freely available at some games in DCP, mostly accurate and dependable.
The unofficial CP program was pressured out of business replaced by the glossy over priced and undependable ad filled programme at €5 a pop with reams of them left not sold to be shredder in the following days.

GAA programmes are works of fiction, GAA shamelessly asking punters to pay €5 for a programme where teams bare no resemblance to what fields, because the GAA turn a blind eye to managers naming dummy teams.

Dead right. I swore after Saturday that is the last program I am buying! Nothing in it, dummy teams, waste of money.

I remember some unofficial ones doing the rounds for home league games (not in Croke Park) around 1999/2000, think they were done away with fairly soon after that.

A full and honest post supersub but tbh the same doesn't apply to the hurling programmes for some reason.

They don't even have any interesting historical stuff anymore. All PC rubbish the last one I foolishly invested in. Like buying the Socialist Worker :-)

Programmes are now pandering to the ever increasing ranks of the "woke" brigade!

What in Gods name are you on about? I am looking right now at two recent programmes, one for Tailteann Cup Round 1 North games and the other for the Tier 2, 3 & 4 Hurling finals. What possible 'woke brigade' stuff is in there? They cater for multiple games so the substance is somewhat less, but there is lots of stats and historical stuff in both. Not the same depth as you would get from a single big game programme, but still absolutely fine.

Yes indeed and it has continued since. Its very annoying as the programmes is nearly always wrong. Managers naming dummy teams have no respect for the supporters buying programmes. I know a few friend who won't buy the programmes anymore cos of the shenanigans. Also the dummy teams retired gaa s greatest ever star the one and only A. N. Other.

Teams should be made announce a team 48 hours prior, and any change counts as a substitution

Towards the end of covid on line ticket purchase was being introduced for H&S reasons, ie, no handling of cash or tickets etc, yet they allowed the sale of programs to continue by groups of young teens grouped together handling cash and making contact with people.

I sometimes struggle to understand what the gaa professionals mean by H&S. it's still almost impossible to purchase a ticket but we are falling
over youngsters selling substandard programs that's overpriced.

I'm reliably told tickletless entry to games and scanning of phones ultimately means OAP's reduction goes out the window.

What took the dummy teams to a new level altogether was at a Munster under 21 hurling final in the 1990s. Tipperary v Clare.

The Clare team comprised of a blank page. I kid you not.

Mayo once fielded a team in a league match in the 1990s with 15 A.N Others on the programme.

Thought i was buying the official programme for the Wexford v Limerick league final of 1984.
When i opened it there was the Wexford football team that played a week earlier. Can't remember who the other team on that unofficial programme was.
