(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I think overall the Tailteann Cup has been taken seriously by counties and the gaa public have responded well
Any idea of attendance at semis today
Looked about 8000 or so

A lot of people are all worked up about the attendance for these games. Ye have a short memory. It's not long ago that there was no one allowed at any match and the sky didn't fall down. Excellent days entertainment. Well done to the organisers

I think both semis shouldnt have been played in croker. The attendence was meant to be 16,000 does that mean that was the amount of ppl who entered croke park all day. If so i would imagine there wouldve been around 8k watching each game. The atmosphere was dead. I think sligo cavan shouldve been played in carrick or brewster and offally westmeath in navan or newbridge.

Westmeath we're by far the most impressive team on display yesterday, beat a Division 2 team easily, could have been 14-15 points in it, Cavan beat a division 4 team by 3/4 points. Two best teams in the competition have reached the final, should be a riveting contest, Westmeath will fancy themselves.

Thankfully you have nothing to do with the fixing of games.

Yeah, More or less the same crowd that attended the All Ireland Club finals earlier in the Year and I don't see any debate about moving them to smaller venue. When the players come out and say we don't want to play in Croke Park then we should move not because armchair posters believe it is the best.

Had these games not been in Croke Park there would not have been the same combined attendance as was on Sunday. The novelty of the Croke Park fixture certainly brought kids especially who had never been to Croke Park along with their parents. There were just 4K for Sligo and Leitrim in Carrick for Q-F. Play Cavan there and ya might get to 6. Westmeath and Offaly are well used to playing in Croke Park given their in Leinster so regardless where it was played I don't think you'd have boosted their attendances.

16k was a great turnout for the first competition, just about 3k short of the Leinster Hurling Final two weeks before hand!

And was slightly more than the Ros/Clare and Mayo/Kildare 1st Tier games the previous weekend.

I go to games actually.
Just because the players want something doesn't mean they should get it really.
If they're half as interested in this cup as they say they are they won't mind which venue it's played at, same as the club finals.

Which highlighted those games should never have been staged in Croke Park.

As for the Tailteann Cup do people really think 16k was a great turnout with four counties involved? New competition all teams that hadn't seen their teams in Croke Park action much over the last decade surely the objective and hopes from HQ was upwards of 25 to 30k in attendance.

HQ probably didn't help themselves in regard with to family or group priced tickets.
