That could fine them not making it out of their group, as they always seem to struggle in the early stages of the championship.."
Are they off to America?

Daly is recovering from knee surgery and McHugh is going travelling is what I'm hearing, might not be true but they'd be a massive loss.

Carraroe finally make the drop
Claregalway mixing it in div 1 next year that'll drive them on, James or salthill for the drop.
Monivea up to 2 and lettermore still stuck in 3B

Carroroe will take another drop to intermediate as will monivea or lettermore.

Headford for intermediate championship.

Hmm mmmm well I went for Claregalway today instead of Michael's! Tomorrow looks tougher to call.... Moycullen and MM should win but Miltown v Killannin and Caherlistrane v Monivea is tricky!! I'll decide later

Jesus. Just 1 wrong. Next week will really sort the men from the boys. Any team that lost this weekend will be throwing the kitchen sink at it !!
Any stand out performances. Peter Cooke was very good by all accounts.

I was fairly lucky in my picks. I'm more of a hurling guy. I didn't see any of the matches. I'd love to see some lads get discovered and make the Galway team deeper.

Round 2 predictions:

Bearna v St James - tough to call, going to say experience will get Jimmies over the line by a point or two
Spiddal v Tuam - Spiddal put it up to Moycullen but hard to see an upset here. Tuam by 6
Milltown v St Michaels - 50/50 this one, good wins for both sides last week, could go either way on the day. Michaels by 1
Carraroe v M/M - Will be a one sided affair, Patrick Kelly will do damage. M/M by 8
CG v Caherlistrane - CG very overrated, this Caherlistrane team has shown great heart over the years and have momentum now. Caherlistrane by 2
Naomh Anna v Corofin - Only reason Corofin didn't hammer Oughterard by more was cause they had 15 men behind the ball at all times, same will happen here. Corofin by 10+
Annaghdown v S/K - Annaghdown have shown they are the real deal in recent years, unlike S/K. They will be hungry for a win after 1st round loss. Annaghdown by 4
Monivea - Killanin - Another 50/50 game, going to say Monivea by 2, Killanin defence pretty poor
Oughterard v Moycullen - Local derby, should be a physical game. Moycullen by 4

Could be completely wrong here but time will tell! Looking forward to seeing a few of these games at the weekend

Tribesman, I wouldn't write off the seasiders v Tuam. They have players to come back I believe.

They objective I believe is to stay up and next year give it I right rattle with there few exceptional minors in the fold.

Agree with Claregalway being a bit overrated. They're very similar to Turliughmore in the hurling "they're coming" they've been coming for the last 5/6 years without doing anything. Have probably been closer to the relegation territory than to getting to business end of championship. Seem to produce so many similar type players, small knacky footballers and have yet to produce a proper starting galway senior forward. Danny Cummins was the closest they got to that.

Apologies if that comment sounded disrespectful. It was a bit of a knee jerk reaction. I will try to put some context on it.
I have seen Spiddal play a few times and I would agree that they are going in the right direction and that they should be relatively safe in senior. But there is a big gap between the standard required to maintain senior status and that required to make a serious push for honours. They are 10/3 to beat Tuam at the weekend and that is an accurate reflection of where they are. I also agree that there is some good talent coming through and the minor corner back will undoubtedly play senior next year. But to suggest that 18 year olds could play a major role in bridging a significant gap is a bit of a stretch, as we have seen in recent years that excellent county minors take a number of years to become established seniors. Your statement might have had more credibility if you had said , maintain senior status in 2022, build on this and integrate the youth over a couple of years with a view to becoming a significant force in the middle of the decade.

Bearna vs St James - Bearna still missing a good few starters. James' by 4.

Spiddal vs Tuam - Tuam will probably make heavy weather of it but they should win this one. Tuam by 3.

Milltown vs St Michaels - Michaels will have too much pace for a Milltown side that is still reliant on Mike Martin. Michaels by 2.

Ceathru Rua vs Mountbellew - Mountbellew could win this by 15 if they want. Way too much firepower up front with Finnerty, McHugh and Kelly.

Claregalway vs Caherlistrane - Claregalway have to win this and if they can't beat an average team like Caherlistrane then they don't deserve to qualify. Claregalway by 2.

Naomh Anna vs Corofin - Routine stuff for Corofin who should win this by 10+. Naomh Anna haven't enough solid defenders.

Annaghdown vs Salthill - I think Salthill are a more rounded team and I fancy them to steal this one. Maher, Sweeney, Finnerty and Culhane is a good core of players. Salthill by 1. Good game on paper. Annaghdown too reliant on Comer and Burke.

Monivea vs Kilannin - Kilannin have no defence but it might not matter here because Monivea have no forwards. Killannin by 3.

Oughterard vs Moycullen - Moycullen were poor last week and they will get dragged into a dog fight here. Cooke might be enough for them to win the game but i think this ends in a draw.

Moycullen again slow enough to get going but really pushed on in the second half. Connelly motm for me. Cooke, s kelly and Gallagher all played really well. 2 Tierneys for oughterard and r. Monaghan all had good games. Oughterard set up defensively and against weaker teams this would work but they've played 2 of the best back to back.

Heaney for Killanin was immense. Mcdaid very quiet seemed to be given the job of marking heaney in the 1st half but he was in unstoppable form. No one for monivea stood out. Killanin should have won by double digits. They made hard work of it in the end. Lots of stupid mistakes and wayward shooting.Coughed up a ridiculous penalty with a stupid foul right in front of the ref withthe game almost over. Monivea never looked like scoring a goal. Folan for Killanin played well. Great pair of hands and gave a decent target man in the absence of psweeney. Killanin lost 3 of their starting defenders to injury and Green to immigration (i think or hes just opted out) so I think they'll be happy if they can just stay safe. If oughterard were in this group I think they'd beat both of them handy enough. Just a bit unlucky with the draw they got.

Monivea very weak. Could very well get relegated .

Fairplay to all players who played in this heat. Seriously tough. I needed to change my tshirt after just sitting down for a few hours. And yesterday it was even hotter. Definitely the right decision to bring the water breaks back

I know it's a bit early to ask but has anyone seen anyone in these Club Matches that is NOT on the County Team but maybe should get a look?
