Ross Munnelly

Ross Munnelly scored a point for Laois today, meaning he has now scored in 20 consecutive intercounty seasons for Laois. I wonder would anyone know if this is a record.

Well if it's not a record it is an outrageous achievement What a player. Brilliant in his heyday.

I don't know about football, but the great Christy Ring played and scored in 24 consecutive senior intercounty seasons.

Has to be a record. Fair play to him

Good honest player. Unlike what we seen with the Northie's today but guess we're all use to that.

Exactly. What has he brought to the equation for the last ten years for Laois. It is all well be good being there and getting personal records by coming on for ten minutes a game but that isn't much use to the Laois senior team. It doesn't install much confidence on young lads trying to break through every year and seeing a place being taken by a lad that should have retired a long time ago. Seeing him come on today I got the impression a lot of Laois people would feel the same.

Fair play to him. Pure class when in his prime. Obviously a great player to be able to hang around so long.

Absolute nonsense. He didn't "take" a place. A series of different managers all deemed him worthy of one. Unbelievable begrudgery of a fantastic achievement.

Great player, some commitment to dedicate yourself for a lifetime of inter County football, I'd imagine most counties would only be delighted to have such experience in their squad

Class act. A great role model for children and us all. 39 is the new 30.

No begrudgery here. Just making a point from my own observations and that of the reaction of some Laois people in Portlaoise yesterday. Out of those series of managers in the last ten years how many used him in a meaningful manner other than a sub in the last few minutes of a game when there was nothing to play for. I'm not saying he was never a good player and he burst on to the scene impressively in 2003 when they won Leinster but he is only there for selfish reasons of late and not that of the benefit of Laois GAA.

Scored 7 points v Dublin ( 5 from play ) in 2014 leinster championship, which was in the last 10 years if I'm not mistaken. Was still starting games in 2018, eg 4 points ( 2 from play ) in league final that year. A legend in Laois.

A fantastic player who never had any airs or graces both on and off the field.
Great score taker from frees and play and a great role model for younger players.
Has always given of his best.
A class player.
